I think Islanders are the dark horse of the East this season.

As of right now...
Everyone but Boston is a dark horse in The east.

Lots of hockey to be played and there are upsets in the playoffs but right now it's hard to see them losing 4 in a 7 game series. Could happen for sure but they'd be wildly favoured in any series today.

Wildly favoured… despite currently being OUT of a playoff spot?

How can they be wildly favoured in any series TODAY when if the playoffs ended TODAY they wouldn’t even be in any series… they’d be golfing?

Unless you meant Boston and I just mis-read?

pretty sure he meant Boston, the Isles wouldnt be favored over anyone currently in playoff position. Isles need to get healthy, otherwise the season will be over very soon.

That makes much more sense then.

I'd take Tampa over Boston in a series
Why? Other than goalies (which even that’s debatable this season), Boston has them beat in every category.

This is reflected in the massive difference in the standings and Boston has won both head to heads this year.

I meant Boston. ...

Ranger held them to just 17 too. Rangers aren't even a good defensive team like Carolina

guessing you forgot the 6 pp ( all legit calls) 5 on 3 we gave you. Along with 2 broken sticks .

So makes sense NYI didnt outshoot you or have more puck possesion😆
So when you say “held” you clearly look at the shot count as the Rag$ have a shutdown defense?

The shot differnrial does not always tell a game

The Rag$ full starting lineup struggled against NYI with 3 AHL fill ins and then Czikas out in 2nd ..

Those fill ins were for Pelech, Clutter, Palmeri. I mention this because your comment of “held”.

I would be concerned if I was you and probably not comment on holding a team to 17 shots , (was actually 18 but who cares) and more concerned with Jim Carey giving up 3 goals on 18 shots and going 1 for 6 on the pp

all that matters in that game and any game was the 2 pts & your Rag$ got it. Only thing we care about is not getting the 2 pts and giving up 2 pts to an EC team

The rag$ and isles are WC teams at best IMO.

But your “held” comment is incorrect and pretty sure you didnt even watch the game

Islanders are the most overrated team in the last 5 years, this team has never had a real chance of doing anything at all with their zero offense built team and they never will. Just because you have God tier goaltending/d doesnt mean it ll be enough and we've seen it isn't.

However I still love Barzal and think people sleep on him, although he does leave more to be desired, but he really is a fanta

please elaborate on overrated for the last 5 years? Isles never made the playoffs just because of goaltending ...

Defense definitely.. But goaltending alone? Nope

Does it bother you , that we are a good team without a 50g scorer?

NYi goal is just make playoffs , they only care about having a spot in the top 8 at end of season.

Hard to argue against a team that just made multiple Finals but...
This season... ? Not today. History aside... today there's a pretty sizable gap between Boston and the next 4-5 incredibly good teams in the East. Not that it couldn't happen and might change but right now... Bruins are a step above making everyone else kinda darkhorses or underdogs. - at the time of me typing this.

Shots in the prior two games were 41-29 and 40-26. You're lucky your shitty ass team has one win in this series much less two.

Regular season means nothing for a team like Tampa, who they are today is not who they will be in April.

Similar things were said last year about TB. Vasi looked bad, their defense was very loose etc. Then come playoff time they flipped the switch and ran through the East again. They have figured out playoff hockey and are more comfortable in their skin than any other team in the NHL (which is a very underrated aspect of what makes them so great)

Are Tampa more vulnerable now than ever? I would say so, I have Boston, Toronto and probably Carolina with them at the top tier of the contenders in the East. But that cup-winning core is still there, and the system they play is still there. Tough to bet against that in a playoff series

Also, Ullmark does not compare to Vasi in anyway shape or form in a playoff series. The guy is a straight up monster and shows it every playoff run. I'm pissed he's who we have to likely face in round 1 again lol

Tampa who they’ve been the last three seasons also isn’t who they are today. They’ve lost a ton of important pieces.

I say held because that's literally what happened. Why is that hard for you to comprehend? We outshot you the other two games. As for saying the Rangers have a shutdown defense I literally said in my next sentence the Rangers aren't a good defensive team. Pretty sure you didn't watch the game and you are struggling to read on top of that.

Nobody cares about Czikas and Clutterbuck being out. Replacement level players at best. Continue making excuses.

They have, which is why I'm saying they are more vulnerable now than ever. The Tampa from 2-3 years ago would have undoubtedly been the #1 favourite in the NHL with no other team on their tier imo. But, they've lost pieces which puts them on a similar level to the rest of the upper tier Eastern teams (Boston, TOR, CAR). With that said, I still take them due to their stars performance in the playoffs + the confidence they have in their game and their system

Someone in the East needs to actually beat them before we give up their crown

Completely off topic, but since it’s being discussed here, Rangers fans desperately hanging on to “outshooting” as some arbiter of success is hilarious given that they’ve routinely relied on their goalie to stand on his head during their successful years over the past decade plus.
you’re right, i’ll take the standings points and won 8 of their last 9 instead

They don’t have the elite pieces required to contend. A run similar to the one a couple years ago is probably the best you could hope for.

Nope, they don't have the elite talent to be considered a contender. That said, they have a fighting chance of getting in, and perhaps, going on a run with a healthy, gritty, experienced squad and a goalie that can steal games.

They're actually one of the few teams I can see taking out Boston.
