I think Islanders are the dark horse of the East this season.

truth is not really but ok. Barzal at the ripe old age of 25 has NHL hardware and has won as many or more playoff series than Zibby and Foxy combined and has complied a higher scoring individual NHL regular season

amen brother
Zibanejad had 75 in 57 games my guy.

Want to compare their numbers over the last three seasons?

Who on the Isles D has anything even close to a Norris or 74 pt season like Fox?

I feel like I must be arguing with children right now

Fox has only been on the team for three of those years 😂 one as a rookie.

What have they done?
Norris, PPG seeason, 74pt season… did you actually just compare Pelech to him ????

Zibanejad:
75 in 57
80+pt season

When was the last time anyone other than Barzal forever ago put up an 80pt season on the Isles?

Then they have the worlds best goalie.
Have those players play under Trotz and then we'll see what kind of numbers they put up. Smoke and mirrors my friend. Smoke and mirrors.

It is an even year, so I guess they are due to be contenders again. Joke aside, I don't follow the Islanders closely, but ever since the Tavares trade, NYI seem like that dark horse contender every other season.

I hope they are. We shall see. I'd be happy if they just grab a wildcard spot.
They will. Have faith.

We like to consider this addition by subtraction but the whole ordeal left a bad taste in Islander fan's mouths.

ummm, at age 25 check Zibby's stats my friend. Also, Barzal did play in those shortened seasons too? Also, Zibby got 81 in 81 last year. still has not beaten the rookie Barzal's 85 big ones. What's your point? albeit, this year could be the year playing with that lethal PP

Well I'll agree on one thing, I have no idea what your point is. :sarcasm:

If nuisance means another shot at the Eastern Conference finals 3 in 4 years BTW, I'm all for it. I think with the revised system they can go all the way this year.

thats because there never was one....i was fkn around about you saying the isles had been to the last 3 ecf

and had to bring up how fast trotz moved from penthouse to outhouse with the fanbase

Trotz was great, taught the NYI how to win somewhat and play tight D as units sacrificing offense for the team and individual awards. Always will be Love from NYI fans across the board if I may represent them

Well I think you are misrepresenting Isles fan's adoration for what Trotz did with the Isles. They were good years no doubt, but a change was necessary to take the next step in their evolution as a team. Lambert followed Trotz as an assistant coach for most of his coaching years. They are close friends and Lambert called Trotz the moment he was hired and Trotz gave him his full support. Some of this looks like it was fishily out of design, but I'm glad it was not a whole sale change in coaching philosophy. That might have proved disastrous. There is no better outcome than this coaching change. It was more a lateral move with a twist so to speak. I'm just glad Lambert knows Trotz system inside and out so the team can fall back on it on the fly if the game warranted it.

I would "like" your post if my privileges hadn't been taken away. lol. I promise to behave myself more and be more Islander centric

You mean an individual season where the entire team was atrocious defensively? Is 85 pts impressive when you give up as many as you score?

His TEAM has won as many series. That has zero relevance to who is a better player?

Who the hell cares about age when we’re talking about better players now? Zibanejad has a much higher PPG over the last three seasons than Barzal. It’s not close

You can't live and die at the alter of "on pace," I understand that, but it's amazing how some folks outright ignore it.

Zibanejad has 206 points over his last 194 games which is 87 per 82, over a sample equivalent to 2.5 seasons.

It's the same thing as when people say "ackchually, Panarin isn't a 100 point player!" Meanwhile, he's averaging 111 per 82 since he signed with the Rangers.

We had a pandemic.

and truth that barzal has more playoff victories than Zibby and Foxy combined all at the ripe old age of 25. Truth is tough to understand I guess. Fox and Zibby are great players, elite in my mind with a heck of a supporting cast to hang with. Especially the PP. So when someone says: Foxy and Zibby has accomplished more than Barzal I'll call them out. Harsh truth, glad the NYR are carrying on the confidence from last spring. Stay healthy. See where there season goes

I mean so does Matt Martin. Who cares?

They have more than McDavid. I suppose Barzal is more accomplished than him too right?

That's like comparing the outcome of a 30 yard dash with one player given a pair of Nikes and the other a big old ball and chain. Barzal versus Zibanejad skill for skill is a lopsided question in favor of Barzal. Ziganejad would have been a 4th liner under Trotz system.

Give me a break. Barzal could only dream of being aa good a goal scorer as Zibanejad

I mean, that's a fair point.

Zibanejad would have been regarded as a top center a long time ago if AV didn't put him on the third line for two years.
Let's see what this year brings for Barzal. He's going to have to rack up the points again to show that he's an elite player. The eye test seems to support this but true, he's going to have to produce to make it so.
