No. It is not. The term "midget" is derived from the name "Bridget" and so it is today regarded as an emasculating term (hence the perceived offense) when used to refer to a male under 4-feet 4-inches tall regardless of it's definitional correctness. "Midget" is just fine, there's nothing wrong with that word. How will you excuse your faulty statements?

I thought you were going to point out that "all time" includes the future too, and we really don't know whether someone better will come along. So it's kind of a stupid term. We should really be saying someone is the best so far.

But I do agree that it's sort of weird how we diminish playoff statistics when looking back on careers, despite them being arguably more important.

Right, it makes sense on some level, but it is odd how we celebrate 1000 games, 500 goals, etc., but the playoff numbers don’t ever really get any shine until it’s HHOF convo time. Just an example- Selanne was just over ppg over 1451 games (1457 points). “Just” 88 points in 130 playoff games, though, and since we don’t really focus on those numbers we just kinda forget that his style didn’t work in the playoffs as much, or that the numbers aren’t as good at least. We notice stark exceptions, Justin Williams and Joe Thornton, but it’s a bit odd how we largely disregard the stats that get you that cup everyone makes such a big deal out of.

Not really sure what the solution is, just sayin I kinda get OP’s point whilst agreeing with ya that it’s not somethin I’d combine or anything.

The real pet peeve about records should be win streaks and other winning records with myriad OT wins equating to the records when ties existed.

Probably cause back in the 80’s and before over half the league was in the postseason but now only half are; even less coming if the league expands which I really hope they don’t.

I was actually thinking about exactly this the other day. Hearing that someone has scored 500 NHL goals implies that the number itself is meaningful. But then holding that in your head alongside the knowledge that dozens of the most important goals are being ignored in the count really juxtaposes that.

There are reasons not to count them out of fairness, but realistically we are counting something that is inherently unfair in the first place, so I think the line being drawn is contrived.

I don't want to diminish a lot of the milestones that have happened this season already.

• Malkin 500 goals
• McDavid 1000 points
• Oliver Ekman Larsson 1000 games
• Soon to be Crosby 600 goals
• Potentially Ovechkin breaking all time goal record.

What we call all time is really just regular season records. Why can't ALL TIME truly be all time and include playoffs as well?

It's just a pet peeve of mine.

How would Ovy have the goal record, if you count both? Wayne has 50 more goals in the playoffs than Ovy does.
