Since we cannot bounce, we instead will be listening to Forest Night Fever from ths smash hit video game Vampire Survivors, until the next game.

On GYB they were taking in conventional wisdom - “They’ll come out strong against Utah after this garbage road trip, they’ll be mad.”

Makes me nervous only because almost any time that the Oilers should, theoretically be motivated to play well due to any number of factors they do the opposite and embarrass themselves. As we all know; they struggle to learn lessons the first time.

I have this as a coin flip. We’ll either win by 3-5 goals, or win/lose by a goal in a game we play like complete idiots. We’ll see which door they choose, and with this group it is absolutely a choice.

I was kind of worried when they did well in December. Normally, December is the rough month. It seems they are entering a cold patch, but it could easily turn around with a win.

What is GYB? I googled it and came up with nothing hockey related.

Agreed I don't know how the team comes out of this. I mentioned in the other thread team probably has the flu or something. Nuge had it first, seems to always have something first. Could be going around the club now.

I think they've won once ever on NYE. I pay special attention to this as it's also my birthday (meh). I don't exactly have a good feeling about it, for the above and also the NYE curse they seem to have.

Didn’t they also run out on a large bar tab in Calgary on New Years Eve during the Ethan Moreau as captain era? Not just losing games on this day that this team has had a problem with, lol.

Happy Birthday! The whole world celebrates your Bday. heh. The other side is everybody doing something other than giving you Bday gifts. Had friends that were born on Christmas and felt ripped off. Only one present.

Utah played today. Oilers would have to f*** up to lose tomorrow. Please don't lose to Team No name.

Wow this is sooooo much worse than I imagined

For those that aren’t chart inclined, this is Skinner’s advanced metrics basically reduced down to a percentile.

So the danger metric is Skinner’s SV% (or GSAx, it could be I’m not sure) at low, mid and high danger shots. Rebound control is probably just the number of rebound shot attempts against, although PuckIQ might have a proprietary stat for that.

The dubious stat is GSAx since it’s calculated by everyone differently.

But basically at all strengths Skinner is in the 24th percentile of NHL goalies this year. The most astonishing stat is easily him being in the 6th percentile of low danger SV%. Bruh that is f***ing brutal.

Thanks Drive! Yes, the "happy new year" and "oh yeah, happy birthday" was a thing, but eh, is what it is. Thankfully, the week between both meant that I didn't get entirely ripped off as a kid haha

Thank you brother! haha it feels that way but it was actually that crazy game vs the Rangers where they won 7-6. (Up 6-3 I think and made it close.) Yamamoto had a game that night IIRC. Maybe they won another time since, I could be forgetting

Either way, hoping to get a nice bday present from the team with a bounce back win :crossfing

That sounds familiar...probably

Rangers you say, well this year due to light speed and quantum physics and Einsten theory of space time continuum and my place as an observer, this is what McDavid does to UTAH but with Kesselring defending and Jaxson Stauber in net:

I'm still annoyed by that loss to the Ducks. The worst kinds of losses are the ones where we blow leads to bad teams. Hopefully we can win one more game before the year concludes.

Happy New Birthday @Oilhawks :rolly:

You're the youngest of your birth year. That's kinda neat.

Still pissed at the Ducks game as well. It’s one thing to lose to a bottom feeder due to random event (hero goaltending, shit officiating, etc), but it’s another when you lose for no reason other than trash effort.

Losses like that are effectively a choice. If we simply chose to show up with a professional, focused approach we win that game no matter what. We chose not to though, which makes it that much more frustrating.
