I am being pessimistic Ducks won't make the playoffs

All those games without their key players earlier in the season has prevented the ducks from building up a playoff buffer. I still think they make it, but it is a precarious spot for sure.

I mean if the Flames win against the Islanders and the Ducks lose to the Blues then both teams would have 80 points in 70 games.

I think we'll make it. Don't think we'll get very far. We won't have the WC teams to feast on this time. Jumping straight for the quality opponent.

I think they make it as a second seed and win at least a round...probably against LA.

One of the NHL model franchises really. Been to the playoffs 10 of the last 12 years, 1 Stanley Cup, 4 conference finals, 6 times in the second round of the playoffs.

Never had a top-5 draft pick all those seasons, never had a terrible season in all that time out of possibly one season. Exceptional drafting...maybe the best in the league factoring in where they are typically picking in the first round. Appear to do a great job of drafting and developing D-men...like another version of Nashville.

I don't understand why people take shots like this, there's obviously way more than 12 ducks fans.

There's enough of them to fill half of Honda Center every time the Kings head over.
1/2 is prob generous... i think its worse when chicago is there tbh

yah they can watch a team that doesn't miss the playoffs after winning a cup

I think the better question is how many "fans" will even care? Isn't it Laker country in Southern CA anyway and most either don't understand or care about hockey or it's way secondary to the Lakers?

My theory is that rather than being beaten by the underdogs in the second round as is Ducks tradition this time THEY’LL be the underdogs and make a run for the cup
I'm confused what underdogs have we lost to in the 2nd round? Unless you are going by literal ranks, but id struggle to call LA or CHI during those years underdogs no matter what seed they came inas.

Last 4 playoff runs we lost to
17- Lost to Nashville WCF, Nashville represented west in cup
16- Lost to Nashville Round 1, I guess you could call that an underdog
15- Lost to Chicago WCF, Chicago won cup
14- Lost to Kings Round 2, Kings won cup

Even further back
13 we lost to Detroit Round 1, could probably be called upset
11 we lost to Nashville Round 1, but it was a 5 v 4 matchup.

the "fanbase size" thing never fails to crack me up

it's basically like saying "oh look at how small yours is, mine is so much bigger"

Like ohh my gosh, Josh Manson. The Clucks are like....the best drafting team in the league and develop so many good young defenseman that there's a thread on the main boards about it and ohh Lindholm.....swoon. And Fowler, Shea Theodore, and Montour. And like, Rackell is like the best young 30 goal scorer out there and there's a thread for that too.

Oh my gosh, Pavelski's the most underrated player in the league. Thornton is like....the greatest passer of all time and deserves a Stanley Cup and ohh Hertl....swoon. If it wasn't for dirty rotten Dustin Brown, Hertl would be the second coming of Jagr. And Couture, Vlasic, and Donskoi. And like, Burns is burning down your village and there's a thread for every point he earns too.

You could do this for every team.

The multiple Stanley Cups in L.A and Anaheim prove that point wrong.

San Jose is the only team that choked in the Stanley Cup final but at least they got to go to the final and have had numerous playoff post season visits.

They didn't choke.
