Post-Game Talk: I’m naming your first born Leon

No doubt in my mind that Pickard is better than Skinner (Stu). It isn't by much and Pickard isn't a #1 goalie but there have been some nights this season when he stole it for the Oilers. He was very good tonight.

I think Skinner's numbers are skewed by that November to January hot streak where the team mostly played air-tight D and he made some high danger saves in otherwise easy games.

Also, Pickard has been above .900 in 55% of his games. Skinner has been above .900 in 47% of his games.

Granted, Pickard has had an easier schedule and played worse teams, and he's had his implosions too, but I feel more confident with him in net. He just seems more consistent and less likely to outright cost us games. I'm still not totally convinced either guy is a legit NHL goalie.

They support the puck pretty well. They have some big bodies to go the net. But didn’t seem like much happened unless Kadri did something.
Other than Kadri and Weeger that club is plain awful at puck protection. They need some guys that can cycle puck and retain puck. They were losing puck a lot and at times they need to be careful for instance with Drai out there.

Draisaitl is the best pick in my lifetime, McDavid was amazing because of the lottery, but draisaitl is so satisfying as the 3rd pick, took him a bit to get going and improved his skating 10 fold.

What an amazing player to watch and he’s closer to McDavid than some would care to admit, he’s such a complement to McDavid.

We are lucky to get to watch him.

Perry is such a beaut! Backlund is a turtle.

They probably can't catch anybody now. The 1pt doesn't even help them much. They have to pretty much run the table now with only 9 games left. Don't see them doing that.

I was actually shocked at how bad Flames were tonight on PP and on standard jail breaks. Almost every time they were setup for odd man break they turn puck over. No wonder they don't score much. They work hard but they sure can't get any offense.
To hang around the playoff picture this late being the lowest scoring team in the league is what bit them in the ass this year.

Pickard is just a calmer presence out there. Not a great goalie but gives you a little bit better chance and I think the team recognizes this.

Now that you mention it, yeah I don’t recall seeing hardly any cycling of the puck. Most plays came from the rush.

That's exactly it. Even in a few .900 games which look good on paper for The Muffin Man, he still let in two or more on the first eight shots in the game, which put the team in panic mode right away. Pickard is less likely to induce a collective heart attack.

They don't have a lot of natural goal scorers and a disappointing season from Sarg who was in the press box last game (I believe).

The Coleman contract doesn't look too good either.

Glad the mic picked that up. We were all thinking it. Hacklund is the biggest fake tough guy in the league, and proves it again by turtling against a 40 year old.

Their whole team is full of yapping p***yes. Andersson and Backlund especially. This is the same flames team that decided to hack Draisaitl’s leg years ago after he got hurt from Mikey Anderson in the kings series. The only problem is they were whacking at the leg that wasn’t injured. Dumb f***ing players on a mediocre f***ing team. Enjoy being out of the playoffs and also not being terrible enough to draft a high pick. Flames will always be the Oilers little brother. Eat shit, Conroy.

That Kadri play in OT looked like a guy who's been reading all the glowing headlines about him "putting the team on his back" or whatever. Trying to be the hero with a low percentage play 3 on 3 when you're on the ice against Draisaitl... good look.
