C RW Christian Humphreys 2024 215

Yeah another good value pick here. I had him as the 3rd best draft eligible NTDP prospect coming into the year, but his game has plateaued. Strengths are vision and hockey sense. Give and go player. Plus skill level, but more flashes than high end. Skating is a concern, especially at his size. Not fast, not quick, lacks pace. Generally just lacks 'oomph' to his game where you wonder if he'll be effective at the pro level.

50 point middle six wing if he makes it otherwise AHL star.

Definitely my most favourite pick of our entire draft. I see him as a top 6 or bust sort of player, more so than Zellers. As 95snipes says, the talent is there and being a PPG in the USHL is very legit for a player, but red flags are present. One of those is I think he plays smaller than his frame because he relies too much on his stick skills to do the job for him. Now that might sound weird because stick skills require more talent and that is absolutely true, however, to be an NHLer you need the complete package and fewer weaknesses the higher level you play.

He needs to be more impactful with his body because as of now he's too easy to play against, just skate past him as an opposing player and he won't be able to do anything. I want to see him improve his skating, but gain more muscle and use his frame more (which are teachable traits). The potential is there and love the value of him at this pick because his frame is not bad by any means. It is NHL level for sure, but I want to see more desire to use it because he ain't doing it as of now. Reminds me of Jonathan Marchessault, but a good chance he becomes more Joachim Blichfield instead.

E: If there is one outstanding quality to him, it's his ability to stay hidden and be the late man getting off a good scoring chance as he's able to find the open areas of the ice quite frequently.
