I’m done with # 47 on our team !!

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
I think he’s done pretty well for a 3c making barely more than 1m. Good depth player, has the size, speed, and hands to be an NHL contributor, needs to put it all together consistently.

He’s Swedish.

I guess you can call this ok for a team that wants to win the cup , and even way more than stats ( in this case they are awful by the way ) but no physicality or drive or corner work , nada , wet fart

I would like not to wait anymore , for feel good stories , projects , etc
I want the best 12 forwards possible under the cap and if there’s a choice between a fast big project player with long neck ;) and long arms and a player like Simmonds , Hyman
Please take that please any day
he is not an easy guy to play against, 6'5" long reach and can really skate, decent hands and shot, a lot of potential to be a dominate 3rd line center ... Simmonds is ok as role player, nothing more imo ...

Sorry mate
I highly disagree
But yes Train is a role player now in his career
But we won
Onward and upward

I could not remember who was #47 on our team from the top of my head, but I instantly knew he is probably not Canadian. I also knew (without even looking at the nickname) that the topic starter probably has some ancient lumberjack hockey player on his avatar. I was correct on both counts.

Pierre has been one of the few consistently good players 5v5 in our bottom 6, imo.

His reach and skating combo make him a real pain, and I've noticed opposing coaches trying to get their top skilled guys away from PE's line.

There are a lot of improvements I think we can make to this team - LD, goaltending, scoring winger, depth punishing dman...our shut down homegrown 3rd line C making 1.5m is near the bottom of the list!

That’s just untrue. He’s fantastic at using his length to separate/keep separated the opposition and the puck.

47 played 8:53 last game - last in all fwd icetime - Keefe has never liked this player - Personally I like him.

I cannot believe how soft Pierre was last night. Absolutely embarrassing TBH. I am very hot and cold when it comes to his game. Mostly cold though. He looked good when he was with Hyman and Micheyev, but than other times he is a complete waste of ice time. This guy is listed at 6'5 on HockeyDB. But he plays like he is 5'6. Last night he had so many opportunities to play the body, but instead threw a lazy stick at the puck that never even caused any grief for the defensemen. 1 especially at the end of regulation made me want to f***ing puke. Dude, you play like 10 minutes a game, all you need to do is make the game notes. Lay a f***ing hit. It was like he was out for a loonie skate at the municipal rink. I'm not even asking for a big hit, just be more than a bystander. Another time earlier in the game he came off the bench at the same time an Oiler puck carrier was crossing paths with him. He was directly in line with where the puck carrier was headed, and would have resulted in a very mild collision. It also would have resulted in an Oiler turnover likely. He very purposely stepped back in his stride to avoid the oiler player. Almost as if he thought it was his own teammate. Just pathetic TBH. He needs to find consistency or he will be out of the league. His best games are no where near good enough to play as bad as he did last night. And they certainly are not as frequent as they should be to warrant an off night like the one he had last night. It's tough because we lost Vesey and Boyd, but I would send the message an put Barabanov in place of him next game

I noticed this too... there were way too many one-handed reach ins to try to poke a puck in the corner. Looked like he was allergic to making contact with the player or boards.

Man it was so frustrating. The lack of physicality is one thing, but those lazy sticks are almost insulting to watch. Like dude, you must know that's not doing shit. They aren't even in the passing lanes, just brutal. I can't imagine what his teammates think of that effort.

I trained a lot of NHL players. Softly, never accepted money. Which was dumb, for sure. But Engvall. Boy, would, I love to train him mentally for a while.

When he gets going, and he really should know this by now. No one, even touches him.

He so reminds me of a Beliveau lite, no sugar. No point totals, so far.

But the way, he gains separation, when he spreads those huge wings, its really something.

He needs a personal away from the game coach. I love the way, he separates. He seems decent defensively. I personally, like this guy. He just needs to have a shift of mindset

Now can he see, when he has all that separation? Probably not. Not like Wayne.

But hot damn, this guy might be something. Still. I don't think he hurts the team at all as he is. But yes, I want more. I see a lot more.

The Leafs have so much money. They should take special players like robertson, Lilly, Engvall, and Gally, to special training

All apart from cap Get Brett hull to personally coach Robertson.

Get Lidstrom or my bestie, Salming to coach Lilly.

Get someone, ex, cannot think of one, to coach Galenychuk.

These are talents, that could be a lot more.

Spend the capital on getting them what they need to jump a level or two.

Engvall leaves top NHL players in the dust when he gets going.

Who does that? Not too many players let me tell ya.

And from personal experience, Lidstrom bestie, and other former greats would way rather work one on one, with some special talents, to jumping in a car and watching endless roadtrip OHL, European junior games.

It is way up there alley. Use it Dubas.

My buddy, Shayne Corson, took on Alexei Yashin in the playoffs. He legally, defenced poor ole Alexei, so effectively Alexei, well he was just never the same.

Corson, like most NHLers will not brag about, barely feels comfortable talking about it at all. But I watched it, Alexei was about to become the top NHL player at that time.

Corson, had other ideas, and he got into the guys head, his everything.

Why is Corse, not engaged to teach that to players. Its not against the cap.

These are the advantages, Leafnation has. They finally figured out, hey, lets have the AHL team play in Toronto. DUH.

Lets get the greats doing some one on ones.

Robertson is American, so is Brett Hull Ugh duh.

I know Brett might have a job right now, but he is probably bored, knowing him lol.

I don't really have many issues with his play with the puck for the most part. His first touch of the puck in the defensive zone is terrible at the current moment. I think he must lead the team in defensive zone turnovers/60 minutes amongst the forward group. And his puck pursuit is below average. He has the raw tools, undeniable separation on the straight away speed, and has shown at times he knows how to use his long reach to disrupt passing lanes. It is just way too inconsistent for my liking. I think his inconsistency stems from not doing the little things. His biggest strength is his play with the puck. So go get the puck. Don't just carelessly wave your stick around and hope it hits your shaft to cause the turnover. Willy is the best example of what he needs to do for his game. for the last 10-15 games, Willy has been a dog on a bone getting pucks back. AT the start of the year, willy would constantly try to stick check guys and fly by, hoping to get that turnover. Now, he is using his body to create separation, and his shifts end up being easier minutes to eat, because he is playing with the puck the majority of the time. Physicality is no where near Willy's biggest strength, but it allows him to play with the puck more, and in turn generate more. Pierre clearly has gotten away with his reach at every level and has allowed him to pick pucks away from guys. This is not going to work in the show. You have to be hungrier than your opponent. AT this time, Pierre is not showing that he is

Engvall, gets me almost ready to get out of my seat. That is how fast he is, with the puck. Clockwork Orange this guy, get some toothpicks and force him to watch clips of Mahovlich, Beliveau etc....

Nice add Zeke, didn't realize he shut down Drai.

i couldn’t say that better if I tried
We can’t win playoff series and the cup with players like this and plays like you described

This is what I noticed after the game , when I started this thread ...
If you read my initial tirade post , it’s exactly what you described consistently.
All I get back in responses is things like , what do you expect from his position , or look at the money he makes , or that fast and tall and and , and many more ...
Well that isn’t good enough, I want our team to win the cup , I would like our players especially in the bottom 6 to play the body all the time , no need to put them through the boards , just take the body ...and make it difficult for the other team ..
It’s interesting , as it sounds like you’ve played sports .. with your comment about his teammates feelings towards his game .. well I can tell you at least in the past , that would never ever ever be acceptable in any way
