Drouin > Pitlick. Let's give him an ultimatum..

If he can convince Pitlick to terminate his contract for next year and lick his pits. We give Drouin the 1.1M instead.

A thought came to my mind, if Drouin's agent said to the Habs that Drouin is desperate to make it work and pay back the faith the Habs and Habs fans placed in him -- it would be a PR and goodwill coup for both Drouin and the Habs (and possibly give Drouin another shot to extend his NHL career) -- would the Habs accept? Should the Habs accept?

Why or why not?

For your information he has 0 goals, 5 assists in 18 games this season (on pace for 23pts in an 82 game season). He had 20pts in 34gp last season. In his best seasons as a Hab he had 46 and 53 points.

Drouin should be returning half his salary and apologizing for his entire tenure in Montreal

As @Spring in Fialta mentioned, Drouin has no more shot. He literally barely shoots at goalies anymore.
He's been concussed, injured to his wrist(s), not sure if any team looks at the player and pulls the trigger on him as a reclamation project.

I wish Drouin good, but his future in the NHL is in serious jeopardy.

Bringing Drouin back would be like asking the doctor to sew a hemorrhoid on your ass 2 minutes after he removed it. No thanks.
Why stop there. Why not bring back Dadonov, Byron, Desharnais, Emelin, and Niinimaa as well? I can't believe the stuff I read on HFBoards sometimes.

At the very best next summer, Drouin’s agent will have to work extremely hard just to get him a pro tryout somewhere. I see 2 options for him ; soft European league or retirement

This is mostly right. BUT.. you forgot the part about the NMC.
If they sign him to a new contract there shouldn’t be one. There won’t be a new contract though haha

You wouldn’t take Byron back at the league min? Or Emelin? For emelin I don’t mean current day I mean before he went back to Europe

Who cares? Sign some FA to a 1 year deal to fill in.
Agreed, a FA on a one year deal could be flipped at the deadline, the only flipping with Drouin should be burgers at La Belle Province. As I wrote before, the only place I want to see his name on this board is in the former Habs no NHL players thread.

No because unfortunately he's always going to be a distraction regardless of his contract. If I was his agent I'd only negotiate with Montreal as a last resort for his own sake, fair or not the trade that brought him here means he will never just be another guy and will be a media sideshow.

Also even as a player he's never gonna be a grinder and his presence always means less offensive ice time for the young players.

Can he even come here next season?
(I must admit I totally, but totally forgot about him)

...Which will be more expensive than Drouin, and possibly NOT want 1 year.
Drouin has actually looked decent this year. Take your hate coloured glasses off. He’s outperformed most of our wingers. That being said that’s not hard to do. I just hate how he’s treated like the worst player in canadiens history when there’s at least 5 guys who’ve been worse this year

Anyone who votes yes should either get their heads checked or get off the forum as you are an imposter
He’s better than most of our wingers and that’s not saying much. The hysteria here is comedic

What do you mean decent? It's not hard to look decent next to Armia or Dadonov.

However, Drouin has been acquired to produce offensively and create chances. Even in that part of his game, he hasn't been decent.

No. I think it’s best for both Drouin and the Habs to move on after this season. A fresh start somewhere else for Drouin is best for him, imo, at this point.

For his contract he’s been awful just like Josh Anderson but there isn’t threads made about his struggles. For the league minimum he’s worth it I don’t care if it’s a project. Regardless this is a pointless thread because he’s not coming back here . He’s proven to be a 45-50 point player and at the league minimum it’s a no brainer. God forbid we have someone other than Suzuki that can make a simple pass on the PP

All of the proven talk quoted is pre-injuries.

The answer is yes. He'll be playing for his career at that point. You bury him on the bottom six and give him PP2 time and come TDL hopefully flip him for a low 2nd

You should flip him for whatever you can get this year, and that should be the end of it. He isn't a bottom 6 player, and he isn't productive enough for a top 6 role.

Although he has been better lately, he is creating, but it amounts to little to nothing.

When has Drouin ever been a 'media sideshow'? Even when he took time away from the team, it was very discreet and we didn't hear from/about him.

The player sucks but people really go out of their way to say dumb shit about him. Drouin has carried himself in an exemplary manner in Montreal. He's been here for five years and hasn't raised a single stink and given back to the community.

You ain't getting anything outside of a 7th round pick for him this year. With a good offseason, he might be able to get a pro rated 40-50 pt season next season and HuGo can then trick a dumb GM to take him at a better price. But I don't care either way. Get rid of him this year if that's the consensus
