I notice they've taken Draisaitl completely off of the penalty kill, which is a good idea, but replacing him with McDavid isn't ideal either. Surely there are better options (RNH, Hyman, Ryan, Malone).

On another note, it's interesting that the thread is only six pages. If we'd lost, I imagine it would be at least three times that long.
He’s hurt that’s why he’s off it. Ever since Connor went on pk it’s been better. Plus we have injuries so it was worth a shot and it’s worked

I also find it funny this is just being talked about now. Can really tell that people here don’t actually watch the games as it wasn’t his first time

You wanted him to be shaky all game? Shamee shamee
Lmao oh sheeesh. You know what I mean.

Don’t push it! Just because I enjoy your taquitos, doesn’t mean you get to make funny 😂

Well I think the biggest reason is that he lacks confidence. I am worried about him mentality.

To stick up for Campbell a bit ... I dont think the Oilers defense has made the transition very easy on him to start the year. The team at the beginning of the season was particularly atrocious infront of him. But the last month and a half or w/e it is, he hasnt given the team a chance to win on most nights.

He just hasnt made enough saves overall though. Hes letting in at least 1 extra goal a game that he shouldnt be. Its not really unsual for this team though. Koskinen/Smith were often guilty of this as well but not to the same extent that Campbell has shown this year.

The one positive that I will say about Campbell is that hes somewhat avoided backbreaking goals later in the game. Like last night for example, he never gave up a tying goal and he locked it down in the third (but I also dont think that he had to make a ton of great saves either). Thats generally been the case with him, hence why he has more wins than losses (he has gotten a lot of run support too obviously). I felt like Smith/Koskinen had more of a habit of letting in back breaking goals but I could be wrong.

Campbell hasnt been good enough though. Not even close. I hope he turns it around.

Might not hurt to give Campbell the start against Anaheim.
Well said and I agree. He played welll I would be fine seeing him go against Anaheim

It isn't Connor's first time on PK but I think it's only happened in the last few weeks or so. He's also PKed earlier in his career but there's pluses and minuses to it. The plus is he may get loose for a breakaway but the minus is the idea of him blocking shots. I think it's something that should be used sparingly to keep other teams off balance but also keep Connor's minutes reasonable and keep him from injury.

Puck finally going in for Zach, great game.

I remember a day not long ago though, when Pekka Rinne ruled our world and the Oilers were Nashville's beotch. Now, they've won something like 9 in a row against them, and Leon and friends always have a party when they play. I'm hoping someday, we can reverse the Dallas and Minny trends the same way.

Probably because of his ankle.

The pk personnel decisions are mysterious. Particularly being that they're not working and yet we continue to plug players in there that are not ideal. Even Yama last night gets hurt in the game, but there he is still out on pk and not covering well, and we get scored on. Would try some differnet players on pk duty and some should be obvious.

Slightly OT but when would you give Campbell another start? Skinner will be in net most likely tomorrow against St. Louis. We play Saturday vs Anaheim and then Monday @ Nashville.

Drai stated that he should be off the pk. The famous "I'm not exactly a juggernaut on pk" sarcastic comment. Happened around 10 games into season and he's been hardly on it since as per his suggestion. Its a stupid spot to put him. RNH can exact more than enough mischief off the pk and has become more dangerous recent seasons playing shorthanded. Of course Hyman also a handful scoring threat to keep teams honest.

McDavid honestly is still poor choice for ownzone play. Putting him on the pk is plain silly.

I'd like to give him none, but Nashville again sounds alright since we play them really well.

I'd give him Anaheim and if he does well, Nashville. It would be nice to have both goalies going.

I honestly think McDavid over Draisaitl is smarter.

I just think McDavid has a better gas tank (its honestly probably generational as well). I dont think he gets worn down the same way that Draisaitl does. I think McDavid can play 25 mins a game (I am not saying that he should though), where as I dont think Drasaitl can effectively (over the course of a season). They just have different body types and genetics. I do think playing McDavid on the PK is risky in terms of injuries. The main advantage though that Draisaitl has, is his faceoff ability. I understand using him for 5 on 3 based on that alone.

Preds were 0/5 on the power play last night.

I think we're seeing McDavid on the PK lately just because the PK has been ass. I mean, if it ain't working, try something new, I guess...? He's been no worse on it than any of the so-called PK specialists. Plus he'll bang in the odd shorthanded goal. I don't want to see him out there too much; maybe just once or twice a game and for a 30-50 second shift. Just enough to keeps teams' honest.

That's interesting if Draisaitl was actually sort-of removing himself from the PK. He's so versatile and wins face-offs, so you can understand the coaches (multiples of them, by now) wanting him out in every possible situation. But I do think it's nice if he can be off the PK more or less. Save his energy for better opportunities.

By the way, I would love to know Draisaitl's faceoff percentage in offensive zone PP faceoffs. It seems to me like he wins about 95% of these.

In the five games he's been back, Yamamoto has looked really good. He's credited with 14 hits and just one minor penalty in those five, which bodes well. He can be quite an effective player even if he's not scoring, but he needs to avoid taking those cheap minor penalties. Of course, it's nice if he can score a bit.

Team still needs another shut-down defenceman. Preferably a big one. Preferably the reincarnation of Chris Pronger.
