That third period was a work of art. The rangers hardly felt threatening at any point in the whole 20 minutes and the jets managed to generate some sweet scoring chances taking advantage of the rangers attempts to generate offence. Thing. Of. Beauty.

Could these guys be for real or is this all just some wonderful hallucination?

I am extemely, cautiously optimistic about the rest of this season. I want to see a few more games play out before even thinking we will make the playoffs.

Prove me wrong, Jets; prove me wrong!

What an incredible period that third was. Did the Rangers have a single legitimate scoring chance?

Love seeing the guys smiling on the bench but I hope they're not getting too comfortable; still a long way to but we're on the upswing.

Well, I was talking to a co-worker about this the other day.

There is a lot of parity in this league. For the record I love parity because you can pick any game on TV and it will be a competitive affair.

There are teams that are better than others sure. But on any given night, if an average team puts out a 'good' effort, they will very likely beat the 'good' team that puts out an average effort.

If an average team puts out a good effort consistently, and they have the discipline and a good system, they can win the Cup. I think this is what happened with the Kings last year. Great effort and the best coached team of the year last year. Talent? Nothing significantly above and beyond the rest of the NHL by any stretch.

Now, I'm not saying the Jets are Cup contenders of course. (cue the 'plan the parade' jokes) But this most recent string of games is showing some good effort, and nice steps in the direction of becoming a winning organization. Getting rid of the 'it's only the Jets...should be easy' mentality that other teams may have when they look at us, and more towards the 'We have a game against the Jets, a competitive team who can beat any given team on a given night.' And as fans that all we mostly want...a team that will compete every night.

Yup, I agree. I'm not saying we should clear Portage and Main for the parade... I just have a real problem not believing this team has the grit, with enough talent to break in the playoffs. Then who knows... like you said, parity.

Nik Antropov really needs to start paying for me to attend every game home and away. He is scoring at a 35+ goal pace when I attend games (something like 11/12g in 25 games). What a beauty. We need to re-sign this guy ASAP.

Great game overall by Jets again. Nothing more, as I am fairly decently drunk...

I work construction for a living, we have a term for guys like Torts, we call 'em 'goofy emmeffer's' hopefully that doesn't get buried in a flurry of stars from the censors. I hope he get's fired after this loss and get's replaced by Ruff. That would have to have some karma as Ruff got fired after losing to the Jets earlier this year. Anyhoo, just a very good, disciplined game played by the Jets tonight without one stupid penalty, that penalty shot on Buffer was brutal, serves Gaborik right that the MTS ice didn't cooperate with that crappy call by the ref. :shakehead

Great game from beginning to end.

What makes me also happy? Reading the cluster**** that is the Leafs PGT after losing again

Also don't think anyone got booted from the 200-level tonight either. After tuesday's brawls and illegal booze smuggling, I'm shocked. :amazed:

That's not only true of other teams, but the media as well. I was watching the NHL Network this afternoon, and they were talking about the Leafs slide. One of the talking heads said that the Leafs have "winnable games" coming up against the Jets and Lightning. Winnable games? Did you already forget what the Jets did to the Leafs 2 nights ago?

Yes, I know that any team can win any game on any night, and thus every game is a winnable game. But it would be nice to be good enough consistently to get some respect from the NHL community.

Love this:

Florida's goal differential is awful.

Double that of any team in the league.

I'm really noticing a correlation between when we play physical and with purpose and these last two wins.

Seems to get everyone mentally and emotionally into the game.

Jets now own the tie-breaker vs. the Rangers.

What I love about tonight: basking in the fun of this win, Jets sneaking into that 8th spot, AND I haven't had a chance to go read the Leafs PGT after their implosion tonight.

Yep that's right. Tort gave no respect to the Sabres. They were 'ripe to be beaten'? Every game is winnable...and every game is loseable. The Jets thought Washington and Florida were 'easy wins' too probably on that 2 game slide.

The best way to beat every team you face is to respect every team you face. Oh man that is deep thoughts from Wings right there. :)
