Freakin' awesome night! Snagged a ticket an hour before the game, and got to watch the Rangers slow burn. Good overall game, with a few flat moments, but bottom line: Rangers in 9th, Jets in 8th, and closed on Ottawa, Leafs, Devils, and Carolina. Lovvit!

Can't wait for the Tortorella post-game.

So after seeing that "EFFORT" does anyone still want to contest that this team is capable of making playoffs?

Some of you act like I'm crazy everytime I say it, but this is a reality when this team plays hard, and smart. This is the best I've seen them play with a lead in ... forever.

They have to play like they're losing by 48 goals... always.

Did the Jets play above their ability? Nope. Did they run into a weak goalie? Heck no.

This team is play off capable. This effort would get us there, every night. I guaranete it.

It ain't crazy. It would be crazy if they were over-performing the last few games, but it feels more like they're just finally playing to form. Keep up this same team effort every game and I wouldn't be surprised to see a 6th or 7th place finish.

Thank you! I'm a little tired of some of the Debbie Downers that come out after a big loss... we all get negative, and when they fall over themselves, that's different than not having the talent to compete.

This effort was just 100 percent. That will get us there... like I said, guaranteed.

Jets' when at or above a 0.900 goaltending (league average goaltending is around 0.914)
12-1-2
1 loss against PIT in regulation
2 OTL are both in SO (BOS and NJD)

Jets' when below a 0.900 goaltending (again remember league average is around 0.914)
2-10-0
2 wins are both in OT (FLA and NYI)

Jets are one game shy of undefeated in regulation with >0.9, Jets haven't won in a single game in regulation with <0.9...

Go Pavelec Go!!!

Those are crazy splits. Let's hope we keep getting the Pavelec of late!

Illegal Curve:

Jets room just closed and @ICdave will have audio up soon. Ron Hainsey said last two games have been best two in his 4.5 years on team.

Is it any wonder it's happening during Ron Hainsey month.

Well, I was talking to a co-worker about this the other day.

There is a lot of parity in this league. For the record I love parity because you can pick any game on TV and it will be a competitive affair.

There are teams that are better than others sure. But on any given night, if an average team puts out a 'good' effort, they will very likely beat the 'good' team that puts out an average effort.

If an average team puts out a good effort consistently, and they have the discipline and a good system, they can win the Cup. I think this is what happened with the Kings last year. Great effort and the best coached team of the year last year. Talent? Nothing significantly above and beyond the rest of the NHL by any stretch.

Now, I'm not saying the Jets are Cup contenders of course. (cue the 'plan the parade' jokes) But this most recent string of games is showing some good effort, and nice steps in the direction of becoming a winning organization. Getting rid of the 'it's only the Jets...should be easy' mentality that other teams may have when they look at us, and more towards the 'We have a game against the Jets, a competitive team who can beat any given team on a given night.' And as fans that all we mostly want...a team that will compete every night.

I could see that Toronto game ending up as the turning point of the season. Knock on wood.
