It's flat out embarrassing that the ACC sounds like a golf gallery and the ice sucks in ****ing January. And those ass clowns want a 2nd team?

Anyone have a GIF of Eric coming out for his star announcement in perfect troll job?

In their defense, look at the team they've got to root for.

Someone want to do a basic rundown of the situation in toronto? I already know that tickets are too expensive for average fans so the arena is quiet, but what's actually happening on the ice?

Well, tonight's goal was only the second goal they've scored in 5 games, so that's an issue.

This is the first time in a while that I've felt like the team is actually beating the teams they should beat and losing to teams they should lose to instead of the other way around. For years it seems like they've only showed up when playing teams like Pittsburgh and pooped the bed against teams like Edmonton.

...This is all very unscientific

We're all in such an abusive relationship with this team. If you had asked us at the start of the year what was going to happen, we probably all could have written the script. We suck for the first 40 games, get our hopes up for coming change in the form of McDavid, the team improbably starts winning hockey games in the new year, we slowly climb the standings back out of the dumpster, we continue to win games and we spew rhetoric like "well, we have to at least enjoy this because we've had such a bad year", while we play our way out of a game changing draft spot. We finish the year 5th in the standings, get jumped by Toronto in the draft lottery, and end up picking some solid but unspectacular prospect at 6th or 7th. Lather, rinse, repeat.

trade deadline:

"the team has been trending up and is now only 11 points out. we believe in this group and we owe it to our fans to make a push for the playoffs. we have decided to trade a 5th round pick for matt cullen and keep all of our impending UFAs, none of whom will be re-signed because we don't have the money lol. we like our group. oh and btw cam ward refused to waive his nmc kill me now" - ron francis

The last time Toronto made the playoffs in a non lockout shortened season, YouTube didn't exist.

I think that, in part, sums up what's happening on the ice. Whilst listening to their late night postgame show, it seemed like a fairly familiar refrain. Leafs fans feel like the organization has done nothing of note and is exactly where they were seven years ago when John Ferguson, Jr. was their GM - their hands are tied by a handful of overvalued contracts to players like Phaneuf, Bozak, and Kessel and they've yet to attract "the one" who can lead them to the promised land. They also seem to think that now that Shanahan is the team's president, that they'll magically get Mike Babcock as their new coach but that this past week's edition of Futility on Ice will scare him off. It's just a dark time in Leafville right now.
