Hurricanes Stadium Series uniform unveiled

Cut the shit and bring back the Whalers jersey already.
Nah

Whalers are dead and buried. Hartford is and was Rangers/Flyers/Devils/Pens territory. No fan support for the local team.

Hurricanes are a much better organization and team than Whalers could ever dream of.

plus more salt to the wound the Carolinas(North/South)is also better than Connecticut Lol

its not all that different from what they wore last night.

boring

Agreed that it's boring, but again this looks nothing at all like the jerseys they wore last night. The only thing they have in common is the team colors. See below:

 It has nothing in common with their third jersey other than the team colors.

I do think the design is a bit boring, but this was from 2 years ago when they hadn't yet gone all-in with the black jerseys. If the game were played as originally scheduled, this would have felt more like a change-up from the red-heavy look. It would have hit different if they were rolling it out as an alternative palette rather than being in line with what they wear all the time.

Someone rightly pointed out that, much like several other Stadium Series kits, the jersey looks better in the context of the full uniform than it does as a top on a model:

Everytime there's a new Carolina jersey all the whaler nostalgia trips starts happening again. It's been decades, why don't we just move on and accept the Whalers are toast? Carolina is a good team and a good org
I think now that the team embraces its past in the name of making some coin it opens up conversation about wanting to see the jersey more and which versions people want, which I think is the actual topic when it’s brought up here vs people actually making an argument about the team going back.

As one of those people Id love to see them use the Navy blue early to mid 90’s version so I can replace the authentic Geoff Sanderson that was stolen from me back then. Love those.

For the stadium series it makes no sense to use a Whalers jersey, and even as an old Whalers fan I don’t want them to use one, let alone complain about it if they don’t.

The fun part is watching the same people who complain about the Whalers not being worn anymore are often the exact same people whining the most when the Canes actually do wear them

I agree they are very nice jerseys and if they worse them once in a blue moon it would be cool, and also probably sell like mad. I have no issue with people that want to see them wear it a few times. I have issue with the vocal minority that seem to write off any attempt at a jersey because it isn't a Whaler design.

As someone who's not a Canes fan, I accept that it's really not any of my business and I shouldn't waste any energy on those naysayer types, but I just hate how it seems like there is a group of people that come into these threads and automatically shit on whatever new jersey they make because it's not green/white/blue. I don't like all of their designs but IMO some people don't even give the designs a chance, it's just - "meh, shit design, bring back the whaler". Just a pet peeve I guess.

I've hated the jersey since the original leak, which wasn't exactly the same but very close. They look like 40 dollar Starter jerseys that got sold to TJ Maxx in the mid 2000s. But not a huge deal, still secured a Stadium Series game.
