"you are responsible for all of our failures. look at this team's consistently awesome record with elite goalie cam ward in net. before cam got hurt this team had a -5 goal differential in 9 games, they were clearly destined for greatness"

some fans really think that they started the season playing well and that injuries derailed them again. they have played the same since game 1 IMO.

Malhotra has looked ok and seems to be good in the circle.

Murphy has looked really good and is improving overall. awesome skater who's fun to watch.

They started the season playing better than this.

Whether or not that play was a fluke or even sustainable without injuries is impossible to tell now, but you can't dismiss the injuries altogether.

Losing both your goalies and a rotating crop of forwards isn't going to help a team win.

The fact that 27% of their points came from overtime losses and they had a -5 goal differential during this "hot start" makes it pretty obvious that it wasn't sustainable unless you think they were going to Florida Panther their way to the playoffs

Opponent record of their first 9: 66-43-7

I don't know if I'd call it a hot start, but it was respectable enough against a tough schedule. Philadelphia is the only team not currently sitting in a playoff spot.

And really, it was a -3 goal differential since they lost two shootouts. If they won those two, we'd be talking about a 6-2-1 opening stretch with a goal differential of -1. They're going through a rough stretch, but they're probably not as terrible as they have been in the last 5.

Tuesday should be a fun game to watch at least - it'll either be a 12-11 goalfest, or a 0-0 offensive graveyard that they will have to call after 5 full rounds of Shootout. In fact, I'll bet they change NHL rules mid-Shootout just so one of CAR or PHI score a goal.

And even then it'll take another 5 shooters before one goes in the net.

I can just picture it...

They change the rules by removing the goalies. It continues with nobody scoring until somebody trips, falls down and accidentally shoots the puck in their own net.
