Okay guys, it's been civil, but it's time to move on from the politics. There are some rules we have to at least pretend to care about.

Here I was about to suggest a within-the-rules politics thread instead of mixing it in with the lounge😂

See, I think that's a better idea than an entire ban on discussion. It would allow those who don't want to hear it to avoid the topic while still allowing the discussion of major political events (like say, the abolishment of the Department of Education). As long as the discussion remains civil, of course.

politics shmolitics I want to you what you fine folks had for breakfast today

Bowl of frosted flakes.

Speaking of Bojangles, they've made their way into Florida. Unfortunately the one near where I'm staying opens next week so I had to settle for McDonald's for breakfast instead.

Every Bojangles I've had outside of NC has been terrible.

There used to be a whole sub-forum for it, un-moderated (within reason), to act as a quarantine zone and prevent things from getting too heated on the main boards.

Then some things happened and it got nuked.

You should look up the Yelp reviews for the one in Yanceyville. It may very well be the single worst fast food place I have ever been. Seriously the Maya Rudolf Bon Qui Qui character would be a much better employee than anyone at that place
So probably heresy since good Bo's is legitimately top notch, but Bo's might be the most inconsistent restaurant chain I've ever seen.

The one in Apex was solid when I lived there as was the one off 70 in Raleigh near the brewery I worked at. But here in Winston? The one off Northwest is a shit show possibly rivaling the one you're talking about. The one off Peters Creek is decent, not the Apex/Raleigh locations but hell of a lot better than Northwest

I guess like everything else, management of the business is key.

In my opinion, the best one in Charlotte used to be at Randolph and Sharon Amity but because traffic in that area sucks eggs, it got turned into a drive-thru only and it was out of commission entirely for 2 years. Where the management ended up, I'm not sure.

My folks eat at the BO at least a few times a week for breakfast and do complain about inconsistency. I know this is sacrilege but I like Biscuitville's new and improved menu better now when in the mood for a biscuit. First Watch is my overall breakfast chain fav though.

Speaking of folks, my Dad had a meltdown because he couldn't figure out how to watch Yellowstone last night at 8 pm. In his defense, he thought a Paramount show would be on Paramount+ but alas it is not. They no longer have the Paramount channel. He couldn't make it to 10 pm for the CBS rerun of it. Not a fan, as it's too violent for me, so I had to research it. He's all set for next week. I rented this week's episode on Prime for him to improve his mood.

Biscuitville is pretty solid to me when I'm in the mood for a fast food breakfast. Though after I started hitting the gym like a psycho that's rare at best unless I did a 6 am leg day. Trying to eat clean can drive me nuts lol.

These are big facts. Bojangles when it's good is the toppest of top tier. Bad Bojangles is barely edible. I live near the one in Apex and they're usually pretty good, although I once got a cajun filet SANDWICH instead of a biscuit when I went through the drive through and it ruined my whole night.

It's sometimes inconsistent within the same store even but I concure...fresh Bo's is the BEST thing ever, but mushy fries or dry/overcooked chicken makes it one of the least satisfying, and there's no way to know which you're getting until you've gotten it

We are asking less of our brains. They are as capable as they ever have been, but we use them less.

iDumb

Which is ironic, because we've never had access to quicker sources of information. It takes less than 30 seconds to find any piece of information you could want to learn about, but even that mortecum of effort is apparently too much work, so people are taking everything they see on TikTok, Twitter, etc at face value.

And stuff that was obvious in the past, like the fact that butter contains milk, is no longer apparently so.

I think some of the difficulty comes from marketing. Instead of black bean burgers, you get "Impossible meat."

We used to have a term for butter alternative. But even margarine contains whey in it, so now you have "plant-based butter" instead for those trying to avoid dairy completely either by choice or due to allergy.

All comes down to marketing. We need the retronym because marketing wants you to know that "plant-based butter" is trying to be butter.

Its funny, I was just talking to my wife about this last night. I remember when we were growing up, we were routinely taught to not trust anything on the internet. If we were putting a book report together, a website was never a good enough source, we needed to follow it all the way back to its source material to verify its legitimacy.

Now, the people who taught us those lessons are the very same people who are spreading the most obvious of fake crap on places like Facebook and Twitter, and routinely falling for the dumbest of online scams. They're believing everything they read on the internet, and get pissy with you if you ask them to verify their sources.

Its eye opening just how willfully dumb we've become as a society the last 20-30 years when its never been easier in human history to find a verified answer to any question in seconds.
