JFK sucks. I'd take ATL over JFK any day. LaGuardia, I agree, it's ok.

I'd take any of those over LAX though, but I have a soft spot for LAX because of DieHard, the best Christmas movie ever.

I’ll put it this way — I’ve got a growing list of things that have happened with airport staff at ATL that I’ve never seen anywhere before. The common pattern is not giving less than half a shit about travelers, whether they make their flights, whether they pass security, whether security is secure, least of all whether people are comfortable or satisfied.

JFK and LAX are a zoo. I can handle a zoo. People are going to act like people, and especially in international hubs I go in expecting them to be confused and semi-hostile. It’s fine. But the airport itself shouldn’t be hostile. In my experience, ATL laps the competition several times over in terms of the actual airport making people miserable for no reason.

It's all about personal experiences. I've never had an issue in ATL. I've had bad experiences in LAX and JFK, and frankly, they suck as airports as well. O'Hare has probably caused me the most headaches, but it's been weather every single time so I can't chalk that up to the airport/airlines.

My wife had a terrible time in Philly trying to get to a funeral, and that would be her worst airport without question. Every time we have to fly through there, she dreads it.

I'm probably one of the few on this board that flew "People's Express" out of Newark. I lived in Philly in the mid-80s and we'd take the super low fares they had. Only flew it twice though. It was like boarding a bus though.

Living in Atlanta the airport is actually unbelievably awesome to me.

Never had an issue with any of the staff, the airport is very easy to navigate as it is simply a straight line, etc.

But, the best part? Connecting flight? What is a connecting flight? I live in Atlanta. I can fly anywhere direct.

You're not wrong on this part. I've only ever once missed a flight (pre TSA going full Stasi) and while yeah, a bit of that was on me for running behind a bit, the two security agents were f***ing around instead of being willing to do their jobs and check me through when there was nobody else in line for a solid 20 minutes.

The only way that O'Hare rates with it is that they have to be the worst airport I've ever come across for being straight up DGAF about damaging luggage regardless of if it's marked as fragile or not. Broke the f*** out of a case on a horn I have that currently retails for close to 20 grand when I was on my way to an audition. To say I was livid would be an complete f***ing understatement though thankfully the horn was not damaged.

Having flown TO O’Hare but rarely through, I think Atlanta may be in a similar category where flying to/from there is better than trying to connect there.

JFK is the rare combination of being hell to connect through and hell as a destination.

Connections these days are awful. I am flying to Cincinnati this weekend and driving to Indianapolis instead of connecting through to Indy. Most connections were 30 minutes or 2+ hours when it’s 1:45 to drive Cincinnati to Indy.

So flying to Maui 4 months ago my options were:
30 to 55 minutes in Vegas, Phx or LAX or 4+ hours

We ended up taking the slightly longer flights to only wait 2 hours in Seattle

Really? you people are mostly in NC--Charlotte is by far the worst airport in America. It has to be run by the Mafia, it is the only explanation...

LAX signage (at least flying in from the US -- was much better coming back from international) is just about non-existent, like road signs in New Hampshire.

"We need to find the international terminal? Nothing says where to go."
"Go over there, turn left, keep going."

LOL 'keep going' went on for miles it seemed, until we finally got there.

And has anyone ever made an "end of days" or zombie apocalypse type movie set inside a gigantic baggage claim area? Yeah, that needs to happen.

I guess I've missed the hell of JFK b/c we used to fly Jet Blue through there: all in one terminal, no getting lost or delayed. Just walk from one gate to the next.

Now that the new American terminal is seemingly done and the Delta terminal isn't too far behind, LaGuardia is actually a pretty nice airport to transit. Now f***ing Newark and JFK are the hell that you want to send the hated in-laws to.

I flew People's Express from London to Newark the one time that I ever flew it. 1/2 the plane was empty.

In Raleigh I try to fly direct whenever possible. Even if that means I have to pay more I am flying direct, because I just don't trust airlines to not make an absolute nightmare out of any connection that isn't 4 hours between flights, and I don't want to be stuck traveling that long.

I am flying into RDU the day before the Stadium Series (direct from Orlando on Delta) and I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little stressed something f***s up and I am stranded until the day of the game. At least I know I can get a rental and drive if the worst case scenario happens, but damn...

I was looking to get a flight to Cali for a week, everything is 700 a ticket, I was looking to rent a house on the coast in NorCal, but 2100 for 3 tickets, then a rental car to get to where we was looking to stay.
