Sounds a lot like Kampf. But let's not pretend that Holmberg has been that good since camp. This team is jockeying for divisional positioning and tinkering with a part of their team that isn't a strength, to begin with, and not in the most constructive way, IMO.

But if it makes the signing look bad and the prior GM looks better, who gives a $h!t, right?

Holmberg has barely played.

He has more offensive upside than Kampf and not sure he is worse defensively (outside of faceoffs).

Holmberg has only spent time with Gregor/Reaves how good did you expect him to look?

But with the same linemates (Reaves/Gregor), Kampf performed, much worse.

w Reaves/Gregor
Holmberg: 48% xGF, 0GF, 1GA, 36 minutes
Kampf: 38.6% xGF, 2GF, 8GA, 70 minutes

Kampf's only redeeming quality is he is good defensively... if he isn't doing that well, then what's the point of having him in the lineup?

Also, was it because of a turnover, or was he just not playing the system well? Did Keefe say?

Holmberg should have been Kampf's replacement anyway, so let's see how he does.

Would be terrible if another signing doesn't work out, so hopefully Kampf comes back rejuvenated.
You lost me at playing the system well, do they have a system ?

Shocking, people (not saying you) are framing it way differently than what he said.

Doesn't seem like an attack on Kampf or like this was over one play...

Our fanbase makes up way too much.
I think the problem is that Keefe never benches a core 4 player, yet alone scratches them for a whole game, despite continued incompetence or consistent bad play. Yet, Kampf makes a few bad turn overs and he's scratched.

It's hard to talk about accountability when you're not holding your big ponies accountable.

Who knows, maybe they tell them to go play shiny.

But if they have a system and players aren't playing it, then they should probably be punished, and by the interview I was reading it sounds like Kampf has been out of position a lot and making bad puck decisions in Keefe's eyes.

Is the NHL the only professional league that says 7PM start time and it's now 7:12 and the anthems haven't been played yet

Shinny it is. I do agree that what ever they are told to do they need to do it or be held accountable.
i hope Keefe starts holding. all of them accountable when needed

Honestly, it was just so stupid to bench Kampf to the media and single him out to the media. Now if a star player commits a bad play and he doesn't sit them for a game, he'll look like a hypocrite. And if he does sit a star player for a game over a giveaway, he'll look like an idiot

Offensive upside is nearly irrelevant in that role because the whole reason Kampf works is that he's there to ensure safe minutes while you can cake the top two lines with as much offensive opportunity as you can.

Also, Holmberg sports a 44% OZS through 8 games, while Kampf is at a staggering 26% OZS in 33gp. So that gives you context for the numbers you provided.

Pretty sure deployment has very little effect on xGF or GF from what I remember reading years ago, would love to know if I am wrong though.

Just giving you the only fair comparison, two linemates that are the same, Holmberg performed a lot better.

Brodie is such an insane decline season over season. He's barely an NHLer these days.
