They've basically been a bottom 5 team for most of the season. Since 9-1-1, they're tied for the 3rd least amount of points in the league, and thats including their recent run of decency.

Prior to 9-1-1, they were literally 31st out of 31 teams.

Playing 3 in 4 against a rested team is a huge disadvantage. Tampa looked like hot ass on Saturday in this situation and came out of it with a win because they are Tampa. Bruins didn't look too hot the other night either outside of the last 10 minutes of the 2nd. Carolina is not either of those teams, and they never win at the garden.

I mean I know that it's hard to remember the last time the Rangers found themselves in that situation (Because so far this year, they literally haven't) but they've had incredibly fortunate scheduling since the break, and for most of the season in general...

But in the final standings that 9-1-1 counts just like this 6-3-1 stretch counts. I could be wrong but I'm guessing that teams that end up in the bottom 1/2 are teams that are dreadful all season like the Sabres last year and the Avalanche the year before that.

Well scheduling, loser points, having Hank...all these factor in between being dreadful tanking level and just plain sucking (which this team does not do consistently enough to be at the bottom). The Rangers are obviously not a good playoff capable team right now but watching a third of teams from around the league neither are they.As of now I just don't see much of a difference in talent between the Rangers, Devils, Ducks, Arizona, Oilers, Ottawa, Red Wings, Kings and Panthers (all of these teams are a mess right now). Thats a lot of teams.

I don't doubt if Hall had returned earlier they would have had a few more points due to his quality. They are obviously not buying at the TDL. I can see them picking top three easily - lotto help or no lotto help.

Should be rooting hard for a loss tonight, but how can you on a night like this. I have no idea how fans of teams like the Oilers have managed to keep their sanity for the last decade.

Yeah not sure they have at this point...or maybe they are just numb to losing like they have??? It's pretty sad but self inflicted in my opinion. A losing culture even a new experienced coach in Hitchcock has done little to improve. It's sad in a season that we should be tanking the Oilers are almost doing a better job of it then we are.

I kinda wished they had a special 94 3rd jersey for tonight, just love those jerseys instead of the ones we have now.

The Canes among other teams show me what seems to be a Finnish resurgence.

They're gonna have a hell of a team at the next olympics if the NHL players go.

Rantanen, Teravainen, Aho, Barkov, Laine, Heiskanen, Kakko, thats some serious firepower.

Meanwhile Slovakia has all but vanished from the NHL. There's more high scoring Danish and Swiss players here now. No more "big 7" for sure.
