How has Gleason declined so far in a year?

He hasn't. He's always been this bad. But in the past, he was still our second-best defenseman, so he got a pass from most of the board. But now that we have guys like Sekera, Faulk and even Hainsey who think the game so well and position themselves so well, and skate so well, we can see how bad Gleason has been over the past several seasons.

Tim Gleason really is as brutal as ever.

A former Olympic silver medalist can't pinch, can't win battles on the boards, can't block shots, can't clear, can't skate through the neutral zone. That's just a short list.

The 919
shots are 43-24

No more excuses for Cam. I don't care how bad the defense is playing; a $6 million goalie has to make the saves.

Not seeing enough intensity from Canes tonight... far too much standing around too.

Ward did not help us win this game tonight.

I can't remember the last time he let in less than 3 TBH...

Sadly that pretty much describes Gleason's partner tonight as well.

True enough. But at the same time, two goals in 40+ shots is inexcusable, especially if you're going to allow multiple breakaways and oddman rushes the other way.

Nash, Dvorak, Bowman and Ruutu are all useless.

Tlusty is a streaky sniper who can get red hot at times and invisible at others. Malhotra can win faceoffs. Dwyer is fast.

We have too many guys that are either a waste of a roster space or only above average at one thing in our bottom 6. We need better depth.

I'm comfortable with a top 6 of:

Skinner-Staal-XXX/Semin
Gerbe-Jordan-Semin/XXX

But we need a bottom 6 that is actually useful outside of not being too terrible for 10 minutes a game.

On the defense, Gleason and Komisarek are both completely useless. So we put them together and pair them with the Skinner/Staal line.
