Strome is better imo. Huberdeau plays in a more offensive/softer league and puts up about = points as Strome but Huberdeau was also on a godlike team.

Dear god, how many freaking times must it be said that the OHL is the more offensive of the three? Seriously.

Not really. The Q is the softest of the 3 aswell.

(stats from the 2010-11 season up to feb 25.)

WHL
games played=1340
goals=4576
goals per game=3.415

OHL
games played=1164
goals=4256
goals per game=3.656

QMJHL
games played=1068
goals=3580
goals per game=3.352

The Q is actually the lowest scoring of the three. Yep.

These stats really don't mean anything. I don't know why people keep posting them. Yes, more goals are scored in the OHL...but there's also a lot more offensive talent in the OHL than there is in any of the other leagues. There are so many contributing factors to those numbers that it's pointless to bring them up.

how many sea dogs games have you seen? because ive only seen a few but huberdeau was playing like a regular 1st line player, along with 1st pp, even in a 9-1 sea dogs win they still played his line the most

That game was a Phillips + Huberdeau. Phillips doing a LOT of the work tbh, but you can't argue with Hub's 1G 4A

-From Saint John area living in Halifax and love to see the hfx vs seadogs games :D

If I am a GM, I'm taking Huberdeau before I take Strome. I like Huby's game better.

Could you share why?

Just feel he is a better all-around player on both sides of the puck. I've always been a fan of players who are capable defensive players as they are offensive.

I'd go with Strome. Huberdeau plays on a pretty stacked team in probably the weakest of the three CHL leagues. Strome is Niagaras go to guy, and I really the fact that he is a right-handed shooter too, that could help a team A LOT on the PP. Right-handedsnipers is so valuable. Huberdeau might be the one with the best defensive play, but I still think Strome has the highest potential of them.

That's just absurd. Your argument is so biased. I take Huberdeau anytime before Strome.

Well, most people will disagree with you.

Anyway, I haven't seen much of Huberdeau to be honest, but I've seen a lot of Strome and I think he's just as good as the top 4 in the draft. So by default I would take him.

No it's not.

Are you actually going to aegis the Q is better or even equal to the OHL?

The OHL is the better league and it's not even close.

Yes the OHL is the better league now. But, it doesn't make a player less good than the other because he plays in the Q. Judge and rank by the player's talent and potential, not form where he's from.

As I said, take 2 players who are similar, one I'm the Q, the other in the O, I will take the OHL player every time. Stronger league, stronger pro potential and likely hood to reach it.

Huberdeau makes me think of Claude Giroux and if you had to redo CG's draft (2006), he'd probably go top 5. Who cares in what league the youngster plays in, seriously?

You would make a ****** GM then. Don't be short sighted or anything.

Sorry but who do you think runs Saint John? Yep, that'd be Jonathan Huberdeau.

I saw both play in the Ottawa region recently, I think they have very similar upside. As far ice presence goes, I noticed Huberdeau more than I did with Strome. However, they both look very raw and I think are at least a couple years away from playing in the NHL.

If you dont believe it then your probably a Canadians fan.

Do you mean Canadiens fan? As in (likely) a person from Quebec? Who might actually watch the Q often instead of just reading stats about it being more high-scoring and going off of that.

I like both guys, Huber is superior defensively but if im drafting for a future 1st liner, I look at the offensive potential and Strome could potentially be the best offensive player in this draft.

Um...traditionally speaking the OHL has produced the best NHL players so I would say OHL > WHL > QMJHL

This.

Heck, my beer league games are usually about 3-2 and probably average less goals then any of these leagues, does this mean it is a better league?

Nope. Fact remains the OHL is the best for developing overall, and especially when considering offensive players. The WHL may be the best to develop big mean tough defencemen, IE, Weber, Coburn, Phaneuf, Regehr, Hamhuis etc....

but I think the numbers would support in the last 5 or so years that

OHL>WHL>QMJHL
