i understand he was a nyr fan back in the day, but there is no question in my mind that he is totally for the isles these days...the last 10-15 games or so you can hear it in his voice and announcing that he is just as stoked as we are and realllllly wants the isles to get in......not a doubt in my mind he is pulling for the isles tomorrow

lets go isles!!!!!!!!

If your a player you wanna play in the playoffs, if your an announcer you wanna call the playoffs.

He may be a Ranger fan originally, but he certainly is just as much an Islander fan at heart now that he has worked with the team for so long. Having to watch the ups and down of this team for as long as he has must be just as painful as it is for us, he gets REALLY excited when he sees this team being succesful and he has always made a stand against the way this team has been run into the ground. Not afraid to speak his mind and the minds of the fans at all, that is why you have got to love this guy. He wants the best for this team just like we all do, Ranger fan or not.

Howie is great at what he does. He's been calling Isles games for almost 20 years, its obvious he cares about the team and wants them to succeed.

Its pretty annoying how some people on here want him gone. He's the only member of the broadcast team that is actually good at his job.

I understand Jiggs was the man back in the day, but Howie has him beat right now. Jiggs and Butch calling a game together is pretty ugly.

As a Met/Islander fan I feel very fortunate to have Howie Rose calling the games. I also really enjoy Ron, Keith and Gary they really can fill the gaps that a baseball game can leave. Sometimes (some of my favorite times) they will go off on some tangent which drives my wife nuts but I really enjoy.

If the Islanders win tomorrow I would love to hear Howie end the game something like this.

"10 seconds to go, the Rangers push the puck in, but its picked up by Grabner who throws it towards the empty net, 2 seconds left, PUT IT IN THE BOOKS ISLANDERS WIN!"

Dont understand the following:
A-why people would want howie gone
B-why people bring up his rangers fandom...its obvious he cares about this franchise otherwise
C-how a man with a face for radio, ends up being on television.

that is all. I love howie. Hes a friggin encyclopedia of sports.

Scary that I hear Howie's voice when I read this, hope it becomes a reality!

IMO, Howie is one of the best in the business. We're lucky to have him in our broadcast.

Who his favorite team is doesn't really matter at all. Do you think JT grew up a die hard Islanders fan?

Those are the same people who were pissed off at Bryan Trottier for becoming the head coach of the Rangers. The types that hate the Rangers more than they love the Islanders.

And yes, if it wasn't for Howie, the Isles broadcast team would be a complete and utter disaster. Butch has grown on me a bit (much like a foot fungus, but whatever), but man is Peter TERRIBLE! Howie is one of the best announcers in the business. That's all that really needs to be said.

Howie Rose is a terriffic hockey announcer and has done a fine job calling Islanders games. I hope he continues in that role as long as he wants the job.

He and Josh Lewin are pretty entertaining on Mets radio broadcasts too.

The further the Isles get in the playoffs, the more he gets to commentate and the more money he continues to make, just saying ;)

People who hold a grudge against him because he's a Rags fan just show how immature they really are. Randy Hahn, the play-by-play guy for the Sharks grew up a Flames fan. Just because you grew up a fan of a different team does not mean you don't care for the team you call games for now.

I love Howie Rose, he's one of my favorite announcers as I've listened to him all my life being a Mets fan as well. You can just tell the man is excited just as much as we are. I mean listen to his call during the Shawn Bates penalty shot. Does that sound like a guy who doesn't care?

No fanbase obsesses as much as we do over who the PbP roots for deep down. Its some sort of pathological disorder.

Howie is a class act. Some may not know that he was the original prime time announcer on the FAN. I used to drive around all day as a sales rep in the early 90's and his solo show on 660am is still the best in my mind.

I photographed a room in his house last year (I shoot for designers and architects) and met him briefly before he left for the airport. He did enjoy working with Jaffe. Those two were my favorite combo of any announcers in any sport and I'm still pulling for Jaffe to come back. It's good to see him on Hockey Night Live. Even though he got shafted by the Islanders, it's nice to see that twinkle in his eye when he talks about the current team's stretch.

Howie is probably still a Rangers fan and I would wonder who he'd root for if a playoff matchup occurs now.

Rose is one of the best in the business. I miss him when he does the Mets games that trump the Islander games at the end of seasons.

I don't really see anyone who wants him gone, but if so, what are you watching?

Remember, when the team is playing better, Howie's job gets a lot more fun to do. He's been an "Islander" since 1995, he's seen every crappy season that we all have and he deals with these players every single game. Of course he's going to want to see them succeed, I'm sure he still has ties to the Rangers, but, he's as much of an Islander as the rest of us.

When you hear him on interviews and stuff it genuinely seems like he cares about the team. I'd find it hard for anyone who follows a team for as long as he has to not care about the team.

He's exceptional at calling games and I hope he's here for a long time still.
