I'd have to be Jacobs, because I would start with firing Cam. I keep Sweeney for at least another year because I'd need to see how his picks start panning out. I'd fire Claude and promote Cassidy as interim and give him a shot at winning the job outright. I'd dump Hayes. I'd move Miller or McQuaid for whatever I could get. I'd sell hard at the deadline. I'd bring up the young guys from Providence and I'd try to see what we have. After the season was over, I'd do a hard, serious assessment of the core and move guys out that are passengers.

I second this.^^^

Not sure about how receptive Tavares is to staying with the Isles, but if there is an inkling that he'd be open to signing here long term, I'd like to see them no nuclear and try to get him now and lock him up.

Carlo, Spooner, (Any forward or forward prospect other than Pasta, Marchand, Bergeron), 2017 1st, 2018 2nd for Tavares and Hamonic.

Obviously, some salary would have to go to the Isles in order for this to work but Tavares and Hamonic changes this team for the better.

2017-2018

Marchand - Bergeron - Pastrnak
Vatrano - Tavares - Backes
Beleskey - Krejci - Czarnik
Blidh - Moore - Schaller

Chara - McEvoy
Hamonic - KM
McQuaid - Krug

Bruins have both a big offensive issue and defensive issue. They need 2 skilled and proven players if they want to compete now. To acquire skilled players is not easy and will cost, obviously especially true if trying to do it mid-season before the deadline and the right players may not even be available. The Bruins in a sense had those players in Sequin/ Hamilton or another way to look at it Horton/Boychuck, but those players are gone and have never been replaced – that’s the FO fault for bringing in plugs.

Bruins have scored 120 goals in 48 games. In comparison the Jets in 48 games have scored 133 goals. Bruins rank 22nd in the league in team goals/per game. Bruins rank 2nd in the league in shots on goal per game. Guys like Bergeron, Pastrnak, Marchand and Krug are in the top 20 in the league in SOG. Obvious problem there’s no finisher. This is an offensive and roster issue.

Defensive roster issues should be clear to all as well.

Either 1) the Bruins go out and get help to give their core guys another chance while they are still on two legs 2) they continue to “plug” the holes - go nowhere or 3) focus on a re-build hoping that works, but if that’s the case start selling your core while they hold value. Re-builds take time.

The situation looks dire, but if you examine the schedule relief is around the corner.

If they can play at least .500 over the next 4 games, they should be in reasonable shape heading into the All Star Break.

Starting with the All Star Break, the Bruins will only play 6 games in a 23 day span which will enable the veterans and injured players time to rest and recuperate for the sprint to the finish.

The last two years the Bruins have been done in by a very condensed schedule down the stretch. This year the schedule has been reversed.

An astute move or two over the next couple of week combined with a hot streak down the stretch (like the Flyers last year and the Sens the year before) can go a long ways to securing a play-off berth.

1- Get rid of Neely first

2- Find a bloody backup goalie who can help put some points on the board for this team, how many games has the backup won? How many points left out there? Rask has played 37 games I think? That means 11 games played by the backup and points left out there consistently

3- Sell sell sell

4- Stop showing up at the games lining Jacobs with pockets

5- Start search now for a coach who can work with the kids on their way up

Some intriguing ideas, just don't see the cap allowing a lot of them.

Beleskey, Hayes and either Quaider or Kmiller almost need to go.

Spooner possibly coz of slight raise and seems hated coz he's not Savard but comparable

Sign Pasta soon coz contract should be cheaper now..

Trade for a talented top 6 forward either LW or RW allowing Backes to center 3rd line..

Sacco gone so fast

Wait and see McAvoy near the end of season before moving on a RD... possibly move for a LD to move Chara down the depth chart ready for next year.

Morrow gone tomorrow if that happens.

Liles? Boarderline done

You and I think alike.

I was thinking:

Marchand- Bergeron- Pastrank
Vatrano- Krejci- UFA Signing (Williams, Parenteau)
Bjork/Debrusk- Backes- Duclair
Ferland/Blidh- Moore- Schaller
Randell

Krug- Carlo
Chara- McAvoy
McQuaid- C. Miller

Rask
McIntyre

I think a Hayes buyout is inevitable, and with the amount of ELC's Boston could have coming in the next 2-4 years they could eat the small amount that it would cost on top of Seidenberg's buyout.

I'd expose Beleskey over Schaller in the expansion draft and hope that Vegas picks him or K. Miller.

Sign a vet UFA to fill the second or third line RW spot until Senyshyn is ready to take it in a year or two. No long term deals just someone who can put up 45 or so points in a season, nothing overly special.

Flip Spooner for Duclair at the deadline this year. I think both players could benefit a change of scenery.

Calgary has Wideman, Engelland, and Jokipakka all come off the books in 2017-2018, they might want a younger guy to play bottom 3 minutes for them and an insurance plan in case Kylington, Andersson, and/or Wotherspoon aren't ready yet. Kevan Miller for Michael Ferland. Let one of the low end guys from Providence fill in as 7th defenseman or sign a UFA guy cheap for a year.

At least that team will be more exciting to watch. Or maybe just different. All I know is that I'm sick of watching the same old thing for nearly 3 seasons in a row.

- move Neely to public relations and away from roster/day-to-day operations

- I would bite the bullet this season and start the process of preparing for next season by selling off some of our parts at the deadline: Nash, Moore, KMiller. I would refrain from being a buyer and let the season play out as it will, late season playoff push or not: it doesn't matter.

Expansion draft: expose Jimmy Hayes, Adam McQuaid, Matt Beleskey, Anton Kuhodobin. Those that survive, waive. In the case of McQuaid and Beleskey, there's some value there to make a trade for minimal assets in return.

Free Agency: Sign Karl Alzner ( 28, 4 [email protected] mill ) Kevin Shattenkirk ( 28@ 6 year@6mill ) and Scott Darling ( 28, 3 [email protected] mill ). Liles is gone. Morrow is not tendered ( RFA ).

Trade: Colin Miller, Jakub Zboril, Danton Heinen, Ryan Spooner and 2017 1st for Gabriel Landeskog. Overpayment? Yes.

Salary Cap: Going out: [email protected] mill, Liles@2mill, Chara cap hit [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], Spooner@950k, CMiller@900k, Moore@900k, Nash@900k, Morrow@800k: 20.8 mill in savings

Don't get stuck on franchise players and give them big contracts. (Take a lesson from the Patriots on this one.)

Drop the price for tickets and reduce the cost of refreshments. This way, real Bruin fans can afford to go to games and maybe take their kids. Reinvigorate the people who actually support the team.

Makes sense. That they win comes secondary to beer.

I think everyone agrees to fire Neely. He's a hood ornament that you wish someone would just rip off already. Julien should go gracefully because he's given a lot to the city and brought the team to the promised land. However, he has not performed in a few years now.

Sell players, stock up on picks. Try to draft some defense-men.

I like most of this and I assume your D pairs are just that, 3 pairs that can play in any situation and a Krug-Carlo pair is not the #1 pairing even if Krug ends up with a lot of minutes because he plays on the power play.

Sign me up for these moves.

All good stuff. Problem is who are they gonna sell and for what? I was looking at the roster and contracts today and there are some issues. No Louie to trade to a contender. A Guy like Belesky might have been an option if he was healthy and had produced a tad. No glut of dmen, that we know. I'd be ok with moving core players for value but I'm afraid the FO won't get the return necessary to make it work.

The last 2 games were must win... and we walk away with 1 point. It's a kick in the gut to give up the season in mid January but we simply can't afford another year we miss playoffs by a single win

If this team is going to add short term upgrades it must act now before its too late...

But I'd probably tear down if I was king. It's a tough choice because this team has been trying to stay competitive and has been better than I expected.

But this 500 hockey is no man's land... this is why we went 40 years without a cup

I think we need to pick a spot in the future and aim for it... 4-5 years and say that's the target...

Who is still worth keeping if that's the target?

Bergeron would be the respected tie to the past... the grizzle leader
Pastrnak would be in his prime
Carlo would be in his prime
Mcavoy should be established
The other kids will have hit or broke

As for the other names... how many will be sure fire help in 4-5 years?

And how many keep us from tanking now?

Guys like rask, chara, marchand, krecji are favorites... they can still win games... but are they the type of players a non-playoff team should keep?

We MUST decide if we are going for playoffs... then add a couple necessary depth players NOW and get it done

But if we aren't adding players than accept reality and find some opportunity to add kids/picks for our valuable vets... and maximize our own draft picks for a couple seasons

These last 2 games were a real wake-up slap. With a winning streak we could still make it but now we are too far behind to get there with this 500 hockey we've been stuck on all year
