One of the most interesting question for me with this Aho deal will be the bonus structure. Essentially every top-flight RFA/UFA is getting paid up front in signing bonuses now. The Canes have always had and continue (under Dundon) to show zero willingness to hand out these bonuses. I think it is fair to say that teams unwilling to hand out these bonuses would be considered "cheap" as it puts them at a market disadvantage solely based on the timing of payments.

For me Dundon's willingness to spend the cash to make the team competitive will be reflected in the presence of those bonuses. That very issue could be the holdup in getting both Ferland and Aho re-signed.

Well this was a pleasant thread to stumble on. For the reason that I've been thinking (not at the level that what should he ask, what should he get, what kinda deal they do). I was actually just lazy, don't start threads. Was thinking of a pole since my thought was of course this question. I for sure think it's something that I can't say anything really, except that Aho is awesome and should be serious building block for the team IQ and maturity as well as the "fight for a little man" aspect which NHL is going towards.

So, my final answer is no, we don't trade him. I don't know what we are going to pay him. If asked, those are my words.
