So the players just suck, then?

That’s even worse. It’s a lot harder to change the players on the team.

Fans are clinging to the hope that this team could be good with a different coach. But that may not be true. They may just be bad.
If the players suck, then that's on the GM and the scouting team. Something's def wrong, the boys quit after three awesome games. WTH happened?

My money's on DJ being too soft of a coach. Assistant coaches likely not much better.

Just because they lose doesn't mean they quit.
Aside from after the Branny injury yesterday, the past three games have been sloppy - unusually so. How can a team that was totally cohesive suddenly collapse completely? I partially blame Zub. Anytime he's not on the lineup, we start sucking heavily.

Maybe that's part of the problem! Are the players we have winners??? Are they really committed in a team concept or are they more interested in their own personal stats?

Those 25 minutes from Chabot aren’t going to be able to be replaced.

The D core for the next while is going to be gross.
It will be something...

Chychrun-JBD?
Sanderson-Hamonic?
Kleven?-Guenette/Mantipalo/Thomson?

That's rough

The betting sites seem to have the Senators as a "just barely in the playoffs" team, nothing more, nothing less. When we're 10 games in and at .550, then that's basically as predicted.
All the fan outrage on DJ could just as well be outrage at how individual players are performing, and to me, that would be better placed. Chabot, Stutlze, Batherson have not been good consistently and that's on them. I hate when people blame everything on the coach. What's he supposed to do, sit Stutzle?
If there is another great coach out there and he's willing to move to Ottawa and take on this team, would it change those odds a ton? Not sure it would.

He's supposed to make the players buy into a system that will allow them to minimize defensive breakdowns and stop other teams from getting grade A chances all game.

That's DJ Smith's job.

By your argument no coaches should ever be held accountable because they're not on the ice. Why are Stutzle and Batherson not good this season? They are good players. They have what it takes to be great players but they're not. Is it just them not being ready for the year? Is it lack of motivation? Lack of confidence? Someone needs to work on that with these players...

We've seen coaching changes that made big differences. Berube in St-Louis the year they won the cup. Sullivan in Pittsburgh taking Bylsma's place. There's a reason for that. Same roster, vastly different results.

Expected goals aside, we're also the 4th highest scoring team per game in the league right now, 4th most ES GF/60. Was anybody expecting that?

We definitely need to cut back on the breakdowns, because they've been costing us, but it's not all bad.

There was a lot to like from the first 5 games, the Buffalo game some bad habits started to happen, that carried over into yesterdays game. Looked like a team that didn’t have a lot of confidence.
