Hey bro, how ‘bout that off ice issue? Still don’t know what it was, or if there was really an issue at all, huh?

Because on the ice he just scored a go-ahead goal with 6 minutes to go in the finals. Man, I’d maybe not defend the GM who gave that dude up for literally less than nothing! Ahaha
There was definitely something that happened. I definitely don’t defend it as it was a bad bad trade, but yzerman was also the one that made a great trade to get walman

With the cap rising and luxury players about to be a thing again July 1, they shouldn’t have to retain at all. Think us as fans have to start switching back to seeing retention like we did years ago.

The problem is, he's not helping them out much, not even giving his 8 teams yet, as he tries pushing a deal to Florida .

Had a couple people mention to me today that Detroit might even have a deal in place with Washington for a mid round pick AND the negotiating rights to Taylor Raddysh, but Tarasenko is pushing for FLA. Also know that Detroit’s defensive scouts still like Alex Alexeyev, and he may have asked for a new opportunity, after being stapled to the press box all year in Washington. So could see Tarasenko for Alexeyev with a million or less retained, prior to July 1. Would they retain a little more to get Alexeyev in the deal.? Maybe.

Tarasenko though, is trying to push a move back to Florida. That’s where he wants to go most. So if Detroit wants to make sure he gets moved prior to July 1, they may have to retain $1 million, or pull a Rangers, and put him on waivers to avoid retention prior to July 1.

I doubt Detroit does that to a veteran player though. Their reputation is too good with older players, and they don’t wanna be going into July 1, having just screwed over a vet they signed last summer. So they’d probably retain a million just to be done with it, and gain the $3.75 million, to give (some of that) to someone like Raddysh on July 1 instead.

Dallas is another team mentioned, as they likely lose both Duchene and Granlund. We could see Tarasenko to Dallas prior to July 1, for the rights to one of those players, with Detroit retaining a million or under, just to have that negotiating opportunity.

If they wait it out, past July 1, he’ll open up to several teams and the teams who don’t get “their guy” on July 1, will start looking for secondary options. At that point they likely won’t have to retain anything, and likely get a decent pick (3rd or 4th) in return.

Fans have to remember who we’re talking about here. Yes, he didn’t fit in Detroit because he didn’t have a Tarasenko C to play with, but was pretty good for Ottawa and Florida just a year ago.

From everything I’ve heard, he likely ends up back in Florida. If not them, Dallas or Washington, to replace a middle 6 player those teams are losing.

One other option I’ve heard over the last two days. He may have already agreed to terminate his deal to make Florida happen. They’ll mutually terminate and he’ll sign in FLA for $2.5-$3 million. In fact, was told that’s a pretty solid option to happen prior to July 1 if the Wings can’t get another deal done with an approved team without retention.

So good bet he ends up back in Florida to replace Marchand, Washington to replace Mangiapane, or in Dallas to replace Duchene or Granlund.

If they retain anything, it’ll be just to get the deal done immediately, rather than waiting until July 2nd, 3rd or 4th. It’s worth the million if they land a player they want on July 1.

If it ends up not being one of those 3 teams, doubt they retain at all. They’ll just likely have to wait until after the first wave of UFA signings.

Bottom line? It’s not as big of a deal as some might think.

The only guy hes replacing on that list is Skinner, and idk if Edmonton has interest in spending even 2.37m to do that

He has averaged 17 goals and 46 pts over the last three years, averaging around 15mins a game, and has clearly lost a step

We definitely don't. Edmonton would only work as a deadline move and likely one we'd be shopping for a 3rd party additional retention and still only if the price is dirt cheap. Personally I think he's fairly cooked.

Kane would at least bring a little more attitude. I honestly wouldn’t hate it. Skates better and more physical. Can play in top 9
