How much faith do you have in the core 4?

What do you think Leafs Nation?

Given the recent history (5 years : 4 1st rnd exits; 1 play-in debacle did not even make playoffs), do you think sticking with these core 4 (Matthews, Nylander, Tavares, Marner) and just changing the guys around them will lead to the cup? or heck even deep playoff runs?

Or do you believe we have to trade one of the 4 to have more quality depth?

Question is:

Believe in the core 4; stay the course

or

Trade Marner (stay with others)
Trade Tavares (stay with others)
Trade Nylander (stay with others)
Trade Matthews (stay with others)

Notes:

Matthews and Nylnader are UFAs in 3 years no guarantees they will re-sign
Rielly UFA after this season and probably not coming back
Hyman probably not coming back
No cap space to add quality depth
Campbell is not a proven no.1 goalie
Sandin/Lily do not have enough experience
Dermott is a pending RFA at the moment

Burn it down. It is a failed build courtesy of Dubas. They will miss the playoffs this upcoming season.

Dubas and Keefe need to be fired badly as well. It boggles my mind how Shanahan even has a job at this point. Trash.

I can give the Core 4 one more good shot at making major progress, which would be this upcoming year.

If it does not work out, I believe Marner gets moved similar to Thornton from Boston. I believe in Tavares, Nylander, and Matthews being able to take this team places without Marner.

I have no faith in any of them winning a single round.

This team will win by either a goalie stealing a round for us or an emerging hero who puts the team on its back and wins us a series.

Maybe after experiencing how it is to win one round, the core players start to live up to expectations and become playoff players.

I'm waiting for our version of Fernando Pisani and Roalie the Goalie to win us a series, which hopefully sparks the teams best players to play better and produce at an acceptable level.

Clearly, by this description, you think he is a cap dump. How much are we giving up to get rid of Marner?
Marner + a 1st for a 7th kind of territory? Or do we need to retain to get rid of him?
 
I chose 'faith in 4' but that's not exactly what I believe.

I just don't think these players can be replaced as easily as some people assume.

Nah not a cap dump at all. Just the wrong fit here. The guy is talented noone is denying that I just don't think this marriage ends well and he may be too comfy here. But not just him....

These 4 with a good coach like Trotz, Laviolette or Quennville probably scares the shit out of the league. Just a matchup nightmare

Spread out they increase the value of lesser linemates. Unfortunately we have a bush league coach

I disagree with Keefe on running duos but you're putting this across as if Keefe would be the only one to do this.

Jon Cooper does the same thing.
 
I’d trade Marner because it makes the most sense but I dunno if I trust the other 3. Till I see results it’s kind of hard to trust them.

Cooper has the personnel to do it. With ours we need strong players bringing weak ones up
 
Marner is a NHL 1st team All Star.
Our first 1st team All Star since 1976. They apparently do not grow on trees.
