How much credit does Babcock deserve?

He's a heck of a coach. I think he gets too much flak from people on the outside looking in on the Red Wings board. He's regularly extracted great efforts from the lineups he has, and did so in this tournament, too.

Babcock is a great communicator. Every player checked their egos at the door, every player bought into his message. This version of team Canada was prepared from the drop of the puck in each & every game. He can coach my team anytime.

I think the entire Management of Team Canada deserves a bunch of credit!

I think Babcock did an amazing job getting the guys to play the way they did. Wasn't always fun to watch, but it sure worked.

Yah it sure did. Wish USA had a Babcock like coach :( 2018 hopefully is our year

watching HBO's 24 showed how much professionalism this guy reeks. I wish the Leafs had him as the coach.

He's the first team Canada coach to not ignore the massive adjustment required on the bigger ice.

Hiring Kruger is an example of taking the adjustment seriously and planning for it in a meaningful way.

Best system ever employed.

I agree. Whether it was Babcock or the coaching staff as a whole, they formulated a way of negating big ice as a factor and getting the players to buy into the level of teamwork and plain hard work needed to pull it off.

There are a lot of people that are eating crow now. Remember all those people who flipped out on the boards about certain players not being taken? Perhaps one of the biggest things they looked for when selecting players was whether or not they would buy into a system and play as a team.

He quickly sat Subban when he found he wasn't playing the way he wanted. He didn't bring Giroux perhaps because he didn't think he would buy in as much as other that were selected.

The scary thing about this Team Canada is that almost all of the players will still be in their prime and able to play on the next team. We'll likely not see Luongo, St. Louis, Marleau, or Hamhuis again. However there are many people coming up who will easily replace those players, plus the rest of the players on the team will all be in their prime. Drew Doughty and PK Subban are only 24 now.

I also think that some players can look at this tournament and really learn from it, one player in particular is PK Subban. I think he'll take this humbling experience home with him and know that he's got to improve his defensive side of the game and I think we'll see a much more well rounded player. He may very well become someone who is just as effective at both ends of the ice as Doughty... that's scary to think we could have them both. Then you add Pietrangelo, Duncan Keith and Weber, our defence could actually be better next time around.

Hopefully the NHL and IIHF/IOC can come to some agreement. I'm going to assume that whoever takes over for Stevie Y is going to select Babcock to coach.

He's the only reason the Wings stood a chance in the playoff series against Chicago last year. I think he deserves a ton of credit. I honestly think there's 29 NHL teams should be willing take him as their coach, he's the best.

I think it makes it easier when your two best players (Crosby & Toews) are also your hardest working, most determined, and most disciplined players. They set the tone for the team.

That's why Crosby was wearing the 'C' and Toews the 'A', Babcock knows those are the guys you want leading the team.

This was too easy for Canada, because of Sweden injuries, Russia playing under pressure. Czech Republic and Finland- far away from 1998,2006- rosters.
Canada overall better than USA.

This was like Spain winning World cup at 2010.Brazil, France, Italy - far away from 1998,2002,2006 qualities.

He was doing great job, but still- not expected qualities from other teams.
