This guy is good, real good. We saw it at 4 Nation's and again this playoffs. He's a legit #1D today, but plays behind Heiskanen in Dallas. So how many teams would he be a #1D on right now?

10/32, so less than a 1/3. If you give him all the maybes, which is not at all clear-cut, it’s 16/32. He’s an average to high end #2 as it stands right now.

Guys only 23 and saw him recently on the AHL Stars… give him a minute and he’ll be even better.

edit - didn’t catch it myself till earlier after the win but even with Heiskanen out till recently he’s got (4g - 7a) 11 pts in 13 games this postseason, guy has stepped up.

That's a bold opinion.
No it really isn’t. He blows every MIN D out of the water in terms of production, and he’s as good as any defensively except maybe Brodin, who was a 20 point guy this year. I’d like to hear who you think is even close and why?

Edit: this guy seems to think the laugh react button suffices as an argument 😂

Hilarious. Brock Faber.

I'd have Harley over Hamilton, Josi, Sergachev, Theodore/Hanifin/Pietrangelo, and Carlsson at this point. Maybes for me would be Hedman, Slavin, and Morissey

He’s not a maybe over Seider, Doughty, Dobson or Parayko for #1.

Great player, would love to have him. Not someone I consider a true #1 defender right now.

Hilarious. Harley has the vastly superior production, possession metrics, and analytics. He’s better both offensively and defensively.

Faber is an offensive D who put up 29 points lmao.

When you say shit like that...it's all you can do really. You don't know what you're talking about.

Harley was an analytical darling before the general public knew how good he was. (Similar to Devon Toews in that regard)

It was malpractice by every other GM in the league to let Dallas sign him for 4 million and not throwing 7-8 million dollar offer sheet at him.

Faber, one of the best young shutdown d, is an offensive dman now? lol ok

Harley is a good player but pump the brakes a bit.

@mphmiles made a good comparison to a young Toews.
His play in 4 nations, down the stretch, and in the playoffs with Heiskanen out has shown just how good he is. He's been a monster as the guy for Dallas, whereas Toews has always had Makar shining above him. No reason to think Harley couldn't continue his play elsewhere without Heiskanen in front of him. Slavin might be a stretch, but I don't think any of the others should be considered controversial (a younger Hedman or Josi wouldn't be on there, but that's not who either of those players are anymore). He does everything you want an elite 1D to do.
