40-50 sounds about right. Hopefully more but I don't see his game improving that dynamically next season

Depends how much Lafreniere plays with Panarin. As we know that Panarin is a machine, playing with that guy probably adds +20 points for Lafreniere assuming that he plays with him for the entire season.

About 40-45 points is all I expect. He was not impressive in his debut season, but there were a lot or underlying circumstances that contributed to that. This season will be very telling in regards to his future. Someone billed as a franchise winger should be able to make a noticeable impact by his second season [e.g. players such as Svechnikov].

I think 20g 25a should be manageable this season, getting more minutes and better talent.

The better question is if Kakko can break 30-points. He looks great on the ice but has the same level of finish that Brett Howden has.

Lafreniere was hyped as an Eichel/Matthews level of prospect. Maybe ever so slightly less, but more based on position than ability.

Both Eichel and Matthews were almost ppg by year 2. I think 45 is a very low bar for Lafreniere if he's to meet expectations. I voted 60-69 - I think anything below that would be very disappointing.

I know development isn't linear - and he can theoretically start slow for a few years and then explode later on - but to me this seems unlikely. He was always said to be one of the most NHL-ready prospects, I don't see him as the type to take 4-5 years to really hit his peak. I think in year 2 we should already see a lot more production.

I could see him getting over 60 so long as he uses the summer to get a little stronger on his skates.

Could also see him start fine and rachet it up towards the end. He has the high end vision, hands and shot, it's more about losing bad junior habits and gelling with the pace of play.

I think Laf starts on Zibanejad’s LW. Once he was placed there last season consistently he took off. He would have to move to RW to play with Panarin but then that means one of Kakko or Kravtsov have to play out of position

depends on his usage. I mean, i know he had a slow start but nobody is gonna put up good numbers playing 11 minutes a night and zero PP time. If he gets the opportunity, he'll produce, he's incredibly talented. Unfortunately NYR has too much LW depth.

Maybe a better question is...does Lafreniere outscore Kakko and Kravtsov combined?

If he does, that’s problematic. He’s not going to score 100 points. If he out-scores those two combined scoring 45-65 points, those guys haven’t had good seasons or at least one of them hasn’t.

he'll get his 50th point in the last game of the season, his 77th of the season.
he'll get to 70 in his third NHL season.
