How many points could McDavid possibly score in a season?

If McTodd continues to stick him with Lucic and with plugs on the PP, then maybe around 110
If the new assistant coaches step in and update McTodd's deployment strategies, put finishers on his wings, and put together a respectable PP unit, then possibly around 150. Impossible? McDavid is like no player I've ever seen before, Jagr at the beginning of the season stated he had never seen anyone dominate a game like McDavid did against Calgary opening night. And he's played with Mario and Wayne. Quite the compliment

Nor writing off their bad PP to everybody else but McDavid, who should have the most influence as a player on it's success or failure.

Incorrect and has been debunked several times. He scored at a similar pace at the end of last year when they were fighting for a playoff spot.

Didn’t Gretzky claim Stamkos was better than him? Quite the compliment!!

Let’s not be basing point totals on off handed comments made by hockey players.

He scores the majority of his points off the rush, the PP is a different animal. To assume that he is going to start amassing all these PP points rings hollow.

He had 27 PP points just last year when the PP was top 10. This was his sophomore year before he was confident in his shot. This is a player who can 90 points away from the PP. Get even just 30 PP points and he’s on the 120 point range.

His PP production was elite in his 1st and 2nd years.

I'd say that McDavid can realistically hit 130 points without any improvement on what he is as a player right now.

Stick him on the Jets he could flirt with 130 + points as early as next season. 80 + assists.

Potential trade:

Little + Myers resigned at 5.5 X 5 + Roslivic + Connor for Mcdavid. Come on Chia, it can't turn out worse than Hall for Larsson.

True, but to be fair the league got lower scoring and Crosby had some unfortunate injuries. That 2010/11 season he would've had 120 atleast and scoring was already down from 2006-07. A peak Crosby without concussions or a high ankle sprain in that scoring environment would go over 130 without a doubt IMO.
 
Ultimately we don't really know what peak Crosby was capable of because we were robbed of all of his most productive seasons.

The pace at which he was scoring would have slowed down every year from 2011-13 because that's what happens over larger samples but even so he pretty easily clears 120 in all those seasons IMO.

Well if you read the post, the prediction was based off of McDavid with the proper wingers and coaching, the compliment was just an added opinion by one of the greatest of all time

Denis Savards top point total a season in 131. McDavid will never touch that number.

You are looking at a guy who maxed at 108 with many of those points after the Oilers were drubbed from the playoffs which means they were charity points since somebody has to score on bad teams.

McDavids realistic high will be around 110. He's not generational
 
McDavid's scored 100 and 108 points, respectively, and he's already in the prime of his scoring days (like most elite players, 19-20 is usually when they begin their "peak"). If he's hovered between 100-110 so far, I just can't see this massive jump to 130+ like so many are suggesting.

Look at the guys who dominated the league the past ten years. Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin. Look at their production in their 2nd and 3rd years, then look at the rest of their careers. They didn't improve by 20+ points off of what they produced as 21-22 year olds.

he had the same ppg pace last year at the end of the season when his team was fighting for top spot. his teams pp was pathetic and he had no scoring help. through amount of chances he gets a game is insane .2 Hart Ross, 2 lindseys, and 1 Hart and is only 21. generational. deal with it

So you basically confirmed what I said.

No scoring help= somebody has to score on bad teams. Which, if you think about it, makes his last "Hart" Ross look more like charity considering nobody took the Oilers seriously last year. The Oilers were also bad all year, so his ppg means nothing since once teams started the paddle effect on a bad team, giving mercy points to McDavid was just another way to send Oilers fans home happy.

As for generational, Savards first three years points totals dwarf McDavids, is he generational? McDavid hasn't even bested Rob Browns best single year point total. Gretzky was scoring 200 points a year. That's generational. McDavid isnt destroying the league by himself.

I refuse to water down a freely used term on these forums for the sake of trying to make players out to be something they are not.

Somebody has to score? No sorry that doesn’t make it any less impressive

He got 108 points with the worst power play in the league. Oh and he was sick as a dog for almost a quarter of the season

If McDavid continues to play at even strength like he did last year and stays healthy, he's going to score more than 120 points in some season. There's no getting around it.

A big time producer on an actual cup contender is more impressive then a charity stat compiler on a weak team. That's my opinion.

Worst power play? Name one generational talent that didn't produce an average power play?

Sick? Excuse. Jordan was sick and still produced in the finals, no less.

But....Jordan was generational...
