Right, Cammalleri was never a 40-goal scorer, neither was Pacioretty.

Rookie Caulfield was pretty much on the level of prime Cammalleri.

To be fair, today's game is alot friendlier to goals than when cammalleri was doing it.

Actually the first thing thay comes to mind about Cammy are his 13 playoff goals in 2010. He led the league in goals and didn't even play in the final.

Caufield (who turns 24 tomorrow) is playing a much more complete game and has taken a huge step forward in his development, he's basically turning into a MSL clone and it will be just fine if he is in the 30-40 goal range with the style of game he is playing.

He has been in all the right places on the ice on both sides of the puck and that is beautiful to watch, I like what he is becoming.

After a lot of posters were complaining about him last season, I’m happy to read that he’s getting praise for his overall game as for me his development has really taken off again after his injury and recovery. He will be an extremely important part of this team going forward and he’s the type of player that thrives off pressure and wants to be the difference maker. We saw it in the playoffs a few years ago and we will see it again the next time we make the playoffs.

@Lafleurs Guy was in these threads constantly last year bringing up the shooting percentage and he was right. People needed to relax. His shooting percentage was way off last season and it was never going to stay like that.

Yeah and he had a boatload of shots last year (314.) Apply this year’s percentage to last year and it’s a 57 goal season.

18 percent is where he’s at now and about where we should expect him to be. But this season he’s not generating enough shots to get to the 50 mark. Needs a lot more pucks on net.

He’s not the kind of player who’s going to drive rushes end to end and he’s not really driving the play a lot but I love his offensive creativity. He has the ability to dipsy doodle and he’s good at disrupting plays defensively. He’s mainly a finisher though and I’d like to see him shoot more.

At the 240 shot pace he’s on, he’ll wind up with 43 goals applying the 18 percent he’s shooting at. Assume the percentage stays the same, he needs to get that up to about 280 shots for the season. That gets him to an even 50.

I like caufield but I'd take msl over him in a heartbeat.

Not that it matters but I wonder how many more Cole would already have if laines return was delayed. For those first ten games or so the pp changed entirely to four guys setting Laine up.

I think he barely cracks 40 or just falls short but think his confidence and momentum may have propelled him to 50 sans Laine.

I think he probably passes all our recently goal scoring maximums. Which is basically just patches 37 season.
