I was never a huge Hasek fan, but that was such a crappy way to go out and you knew things weren't going to be the same after that...and Kozlov hated us to boot...

Hasek was one of my favorite players ever. I remember when he got traded exactly. I was in my apartment in Savannah watching ESPN. The bottom line showed that Hasek was traded to Detroit for.... Vyacheslav Kozlov. I had anticipating reading a bigger name as the bottom line scrolled across. Nope. Slava Kozlov. My apartment was a five minute walk to River Street, and I spent the weekend drinking there.

Lowest point ever had to be when the league owned the team and there was a strong possibility that the team would be moved from Buffalo (like if the Toon Army suddenly had to face the prospect of not having a team - not a fair comparison but closest I can think of).

Nicely done! Yeah, the thought of a team moving is crazy, beacause its not something that happens in the UK at all. It must be devastating.

As for NUFC having success Prospero, its all relative. One of the best supported teams in the UK, fantastic stadium, massive and passionate fan base, not won anything since 1969.

Another low point for me would have to be Hasek's last moment as a Sabre. When he gave up that blue line goal by Kasparitis in the PO's. When I look back at it in hindsight it breaks my heart that was his last time in a Sabres uniform.

The gap between expectation and results has never been wider for Sabres, that's the issue. We've bad teams this bad but we expected it

I don't even know if "expectation" is the right word there.

I think a better term might be "potential".

We've SEEN this team play resoundingly well. We KNOW it has the potential to play resoundingly well.

Most of us also know it'll never happen b/c this team is filled with mental midgets.

But your statement is right in it's core though, IMO --- there has never been a bigger disparity between what COULD be and what ACTUALLY is in Sabres history.

I was only 7 in '93, but I was watching the majority of the games at that point and all of the playoff games. Looking back now I have a better understanding of the kind of position they were in, and I'd say that was a terrible low point. They were legitimate contenders to win it all and then lost their two best players to injury, something that became unfortunately common for the rest of Patty and Mogilny's time here. '99 was crushing but as others have said, Dallas was the better team and it didn't ever feel like they were going to pull that out. '06 was their year, but I felt proud of the team with how it fought in the Conf Finals with no defensemen and the future looked bright.

When they were owned by the NHL, I didn't ever think they would leave. Hockey is big in Buffalo, and I felt it was just a matter of time before somebody stepped up. WNY's interest in Hockey seems to me to have grown, up till now.

Being 15 in '93, I wasn't terribly disappointed by what happened -- once Patty and AlMo went down, I didn't expect anything. Besides, they were 4th in the Adams during the regular season.

The one postseason that kills me still is the 06 playoff run (LOOK DOWN RORY....LOOK DOWN DAMMIT). I truly, in my gut, believe that that team was THE team. Had we not been down 4 top 6 Dmen for that game 7, I think we would have won the Cup. I'm man enough to admit that I shed a tear or two at the age of 28 watching my Sabres go down to defeat that year.

Having only been a Sabres fan for a few years, I have to say last nights result has me at my lowest ebb as a fan. How does this compare for the rest of you in terms of how low you have felt following the Sabres, and what was your lowest moment following the team?

2002-03 was worse than this.

The team was completely terrible in both cases, but back then we had the added agony of bankruptcy, ownership uncertainty, and the very likely threat of relocation.

At least now we have a stable ownership and know that te team isn't going to pack up and leave anytime soon.

So it could be a lot worse.

The owner being led away in handcuffs and having Gary Bettman take over the franchise will always be the lowest point imo

Gary Bettman saved the Buffalo Sabres. They were bankrupt, with no owner. He could have easily given it to any of a number of out town purchasers. But he funded it, and waited patiently for a local owner.

Bettman should be given a standing ovation whenever he appears here.

Losing in double OT of a Stanley Cup Final is hardly a low.

I've seen it all.

It doesn't get any lower than right here, right now.
People should stop going to the games until this idiot owner wakes up.

Well I think one of the reasons I am so low about it is because I cant see things improving at the moment. Last night was a shambles. The fans deserve more.

The darkest was clearly when our owner was being prosecuted for Enron-style accounting fraud and the team was owned/operated by the league. There was a really strong sense that there would be no team in the very near future.

This is ******, but I think it's really just a day of reckoning that has been 5 years in the making. We should have completely overhauled the roster then, instead of trying to patch things up. I think we can have a relatively quick turn-around.

Lowest moment rankings

5) Montreal v Buffalo Playoffs 92-93, I was 7 and thought all they could do was win

4) Pat Lafontaine went to the Rangers, my first favorite Sabre, was in JC Pennies an heard it over the store radio

3) 2002-2005 god they sucked almost gave up on them

2) Hasek traded for my favorite NHLer who then proceeds to shut all over my home and leave, screw Kozlov I hope you die of a testicular infection

1) Game 6, my folks found me in a corner sobbing covered in blood because I had chewed my fingers to the bone, almost was banned from watching games after that

This stretch is tough but I have every faith in the world that things will turn around soon(ish). Pegula bucks buys me long term piece of mind. When you've survived the threat of your team moving it takes more than a bad season or three.
