Went to my first Kings game in '76, I was 8 years old.

My Mom and Dad were going to Kings games before they played at the GWF. They were at the inaugural game the the Forum and My Mom went the Kings first game at staples with me, she lives in the heart of OC and has a "Kings Parking" sign up in her front yard.

Became a fan right around the Gretzky era. The Isles were abysmal (yes its a recurring theme) at that time and the Kings had Hrudey plus I liked Granato and Sandstrom. Been a fan of both teams ever since. Plus the Kings had one of my favorite Isles of all time in Palffy.

August 9, 1988 officially

i went to a handful of games before the "Trade" but once it happened I was in 100% and have been ever since

I have no problem admitting I hopped on the wagon in 2012. This is actually the year I began watching sports. I guess I just felt I needed a new hobby. I started with the Lakers. I knew about their championship years but I just wasn't interested back then.

And then I heard about the Kings and then of course they win that year. I attended my first game last December when they demolished the Sharks. :)

Started rooting for them in '93 when I was wee. Passively followed them until around 2000 and have been hardcore ever since.

1981, 7 years old.

first game I ever saw was the Rangers/Kings Playoff brawl on a little black and white TV and I was hooked.

first live game 12/13/1984 Steve Shutt with the hattrick vs the Edmonton Oilers.

Summer of 1989, I think. 10 years old, living in Philly, I was a Flyer fan. Their conference final loss to Montreal made me cry so much(little did I know what was in store a few years later). A couple kids I played street hockey with, who introduced me to the game a few years before, were from LA. Then I heard about some guy named Luc Robitaille on the Kings, and I loved Star Wars as a kid, and here we are.

No internet, Center Ice, or anything like that back then. Not easy trying to keep up with the Kings at the time. I remember my mom letting me stay up late when the Flyers would play in LA. It was so weird, because there was no logo at center ice at the Forum. It was late at night. Kings were a high flying with Gretzky and those jerseys that were different from any other team. All that added up, it felt like watching something from a different world.

So a solid 25 years for me. Mostly crap. Last few years totally make it worth it though.

1984. Was 12 when my Uncle moved up to way...No-Cal, and played me an audio cassette of a game in the car. I told him I could get the Kings on my satellite dish, and we started watching the games together. Been hooked ever since....

1988... 8 years old. My parents are from Michigan and my Dad is an all things Detroit fan. I remember watching the 1988 Olympics with him and being intrigued by hockey. When Gretzky gets traded to LA, he bought a 10 game pack Of tickets. I remember how exciting it was going to the forum for the first time. I then became obsessed with playing and I stopped paying attention to the NHL in my high school years but started going to games again when Staples was built. Had season tickets in the mid 2000's.

It's the only thing Ducks fans can cling to now. I have a guy on my beer league team who is in his early 20's and he is more obnoxious than the worst of Kings fans. He Was convinced the Ducks would roll over the Kings in the playoffs this year and when they lost, started making excuses and bandwagon talk. I keep reminding him of all the trash he talked and he keeps back pedaling. I had my car vandalized by a Ducks fan shortly after the series this year and he said "that's something a Kings fan would do". Great logic there, buddy.

Fun fact: the first text message I received from my dad was in 2012 during the conference finals. His words were "how about the rack on that blonde behind the coyotes bench"? I nearly spit out my beer. My Dad doesn't really talk like that and for it to come via text message was just hilarious to me.

I told Doc that the only thing they can say now is how we're "bandwagoners". They've absolutely bottomed out and sound like pettty *****es. I hate that word and the tools that say it. I find it hilarious when someone says it because it instantly makes me realize how pathetic, unintelligent, desperate, and jealous they are.

I know we have bandwagon fans and quite frankly, I'm happy about it. It just shows how less important the Ducks are as the Kings have actually been able to capitalize on their success. The Ducks have too but to a much lesser extent. Of course, that's just my opinion. Another fun fact: I was at the first Ducks game ever played. My Dad got rid of his Kings tickets when the Ducks came out and bought Ducks tickets for that season since he worked in Brea at the time. He only did that for a year.

Feb 20th 1971, Kings beat the Bruins
My parents were Bruin fans and got tickets for my birthday. I wanted a bike so I decided to root against their team.

I know the Kings won by one because I remember my mom saying" Shoot the *** **** puck" with about 30 seconds left and the Kings bench turning around to look at her.

I must admit this thread is really good. I am really enjoying reading how everyone become king fans

I know, it's great didn't expect this response when I started the thread!

I've repeated mine before don't like to bore people but for those here that don't know I was 9 in 1967 flipping channels around Thanksgiving time (don't remember exact date) looking for cartoons. But was just getting into sports at that time and remember clearly the SF Warriors and Phil. 76ers in the NBA title series with Wilt Chamberlain and Hal Greer that year.

So I was flipping channels, and happened upon a Kings hockey game and was just mesmerized by it. Fell in love with the game and Kings and spent my formative years listening to Jiggs McDonald and then Bob Miller call the games on the radio. Every once in a while we would get a treat and a game would be on TV. :)

wow i'm sorta jealous to be a fan from the start of the team that s kinda special for sure. To see all the players in history of a franchise is pretty special for sure.

First memories of watching the team was at 7 years old in 1993, during the Cup run.

Suppose I jumped on the bandwagon then, and haven't for off sense. 28 now.
