The biggest problem that I have with basketball is the fact that the game stops hundreds of times for free throws.
e-sports are just as much sports as Golf is. I think the distinction should lie with physical contact.
This post is horrible for those who spectate it

I find it strange how much hostility there is toward basketball among hockey fans. It's just an ordinary sport like any other. Moderately physical, decently fast paced, requires a fairly high level of coordination, requires a fair bit of teamwork. Hockey fans act like it's darts or something.

Doesn't help the league has least parity if all major sports. Breaking news... Cavs and warriors in finals this season. No other team has a shot. Top driven garbage league.
Aside from the blatantly veiled racism, it probably has something to do with the sports sharing nearly equal spots on the calendar in every way possible
I actually could never get into basketball because I had sensitive skin and the ball would eat away at my fingertips. Has anyone had this problem?
https://www.google.com/search?newwi...64.hp..1.27.1400.0..0i131k1j0i3k1.L9vnZ9ZNA-gIn 2014, 35 percent of fans call the NFL their favorite sport, followed by Major League Baseball (14 percent), college football (11 percent), auto racing (7 percent), the NBA (6 percent), the NHL (5 percent) and college basketball (3 percent).
What I find so interesting about basketball is that for such a popular mainstream sport it seems to have a novelty to it. From music being played during games to the fact that unlike most sports, it's creation is not only indisputable but able to specifically be traced to the very person who invented it.
A "real sport" or "sport" for those of us who don't wish to create a "no true Scotsman fallacy" is any competition between multiple individuals where said individuals can legally impede the progression, whether that be movement or otherwise, of their opponents.
This is why golf and racing (running, vehicular or otherwise) aren't sports and why basketball is. Golf is a game and racing is a competition, but neither are sports.
For more:
I guess baseball isn't a sport either, by that logic?
Impede meaning stop their attempts at victory, hence the "otherwise". You can catch a popped ball or tag a player running the bases, therefore baseball is a sport.

So racing faster and blocking someone who is behind you from passing, or shooting a lower score doesn't 'stop their attempts at victory'?
Very contradicting opinion.

For me, sports have to require physical ability and must have a winner determined by purely objective measures and not subjective 'judging', whether that be a score or a place finished.
Sports: Golf, Bowling, Darts, Billiards, swimming, auto racing
Not sports: Figure skating, gymnastics, synchronized swimming, cheerleading
Ten years ago the NBA introduced this new ball that was supposed to be easier to grip. The players hated it because the texture of the ball started making their fingers raw, and thus the NBA ditched the ball after half a season.
So yes, you are not alone.

I said "impede" not "stop"...
Running faster or getting higher/lower scores doesn't impede another person's ability to perform. Not directly, anyway.

So, did you say that, or did I dream it?
