Speculation: How does Dallas make cap space in the offseason?

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.

Marchment will be traded to a team with cap like Pittsburgh or Anaheim. He's a good player they will likely get a decent pick for him

He’s scheduled to be back the last couple games of the season

IDK about Seguin they can do it but they'd have to waive/send a player down to make it fit the cap. Also would mean Heiskanen can't come back before the playoffs. They only have the caproom to activate one of the two before the playoffs.

Listening to Nill, id say about 90% chance Seguin plays final couple reg season games. Id also say there’s a 1% chance Miro is back before game 1 or 2 of playoffs, especially weighing the cap complications

If Seguin suffers a setback, Miro might make game 81/82

They'll be fine. Granlund, Dadonov, Ceci, Lundkvist can all walk with no real consequence.

Dumba can be jettisoned to Chicago or Anaheim or whoever else is the dumping ground this summer.

Benn will take peanuts compared to his market value, as others have said probably a bonus 35+ type contract.

Duchene I could also see staying for less, he's still got another 4 years of $1.5m/yr coming in from Nashville.. I think he's seen what can happen when you chase money, better to take <$5m to stay in a good situation.

Marchment could easily fetch a 2nd rd pick+, he's by no means overpaid but more of a luxury Dallas can't really afford.

Depending on how the playoffs go, I'd be looking at trading Robertson unless he really impresses. Try to turn him into someone like Andersson or Weegar
