Top 20 feels safe.

Top 15 if all these seniors can reinvigorate some of their youth.

Stamkos is 34, Josi is 34, Marchessault turns 34 this year, ROR is 33, Forsberg turns 30 too, Saros is 29 - Stamkos has declined quite a bit and is more of a power play specialist at this point so he isn't the add he would've once been considered. I'd rank them in the 15-20 range

Always been a fan of Trotz. He's a smart man. He knows the game well. He knows his teams and his players well. He gets the most out of whatever he has, and he does it well.

Personally, I think it's ballsy as hell what he's doing. But until we see it crash and burn, I'm inclined to tip my cap and enjoy the show.

Lol, they're early to mid 30s, not late 30s or early 40s. They've got plenty of gas in the tank.

Yet we never see cores build like this compete for the Cup

They’ll be much more entertaining to watch but they created a very small window with these moves

I voted top 15 to be conservative - but if they mesh well this could be a team that legitimately contends for president's trophy next year.

I love what Nashville did. Go "all in" to win, that's what you need to do. Maybe it works, and maybe it doesn't - but I'd rather my team take a risk than stick in no man's land as a bubble/wildcard team with no chance of ever actually winning.

Of the guys listed, only Saros and Josi are still core players, with Forsberg borderline. ROR, Stamkos, Marchessault, Skjei ideally aren't top of the lineup players anymore.

People don't reallt take into account the cheap talent they'll be getting. Wood, Kemell, Lheureux, Surin, Schaefer? Molendyk, Svechkov, Etc are all gonna be pretty good at least depth in a 2-3 years span.

Then there's Askarov.

Forsberg hit 48 goals last season and is still 29, he's a core member. ROR helped get him there and Marchessault just won the Conn Smythe last year.
Skjei, Stamkos, Marchessault will be second line/pairing players.

Everyone saying they're old, like duh, but does that mean that only age is a determining factor for the talent level? Stamkos, Marchessault, and Forsberg are all coming off 40+ goal seasons and Josi was just a Norris finalist again

They're aight maybe top half of the league I could see a reality where another move centering around askarov and the 25 1st come into play for another add putting them around 8-11

Stamkos can still shoot but he won't be playing with a kucherov anymore I could still see him score 35+ maybe he surprises and pops off for 50 after being slighted by tampa

Top 5 starter - check
Top 5 #1dman - check
Former Norris trophy dman - check
Two Former Conn Smythe winners - check
Future HOFer - check
Not one, not two but three 40+ goal scorers.
3 forwards with cup rings

That's a really good core. They just added 80 goals to their lineup, that's a significantly improved offense.

A very balanced team front to back.

Stamkos will have Josi to pass him the puck on the power play.

What are we ranking the core for? If it’s for winning this year, it should be very high.

We have to see how things mesh but they could easily be a top 5 team in the NHL this season. I give them lots of credit for going all in. And they have a deep pool of prospect already excelling in the AHL still.
