To do:

• Sign Seider and Raymond

• Acquire top 4 RD (Theodore? He plays RD. Even as a stopgap I would cry if we got him...)

• Trade Holl

• Buy out Husso (cheap, if you can find the little cap to do so)

You can't buyout Husso anymore.

Options are either using him as a backup, trading him, or burying in the AHL.

Interesting discussion at many places how Red Wings 2nd line Center isn't enough good.

Comparing to Florida, last 2 season production:

1. Barkov 1.12 points per game
1. Larkin 1.00 points per game

2. Bennett 0.61 points per game
2. Compher 0.63 points per game

3. Lundell 0.45 points per game
3. Copp 0.47 points per game

4. Stenlund 0.19 points per game
4. Veleno 0.30 points per game

Some statistical comparison to last year.

This 2024-25 roster is potential for more goals, more points and for better points/game.

What about Holl, Berggren and a 2nd or 3rd to Calgary for Andersson?
Andersson, with that deal is a two 1sts level of value. Burgers + a 2nd is probably missing at least a 1st/2nd in value. Adding Holl basically takes either Burgers' or the 2nd's value out of the trade. If Calgary wants to rebuild, moving Rasmussen would yield a massive return. Or, he's young enough to be the vet to build around.

What are the chances Husso ends up on LTIR? He has played 2 games since December 18th. That would leave Talbot as the starter with Lyon backing him up.

They are not getting two first round picks for him. Chychrun went for Jensen and a third.

Why on earth would Calgary move a top 4 defender for this? Imagine if we had him and then someone made that offer.

I feel like since there hasn't been a move yet, that the Wings aren't counting on him being healthy. That said, if Veleno goes to arbitration, doesn't that open up a new buyout window? Maybe they didn't buy him out during the first one, cause Talbot wasn't signed yet. Then they added Campbell as well.

Can't really compare as Chychrun made it pretty clear he didn't want to be in Ottawa long term and that likely killed his trade value. Also, Staios is a new GM and I think got taken to the cleaners on this deal.

So what are we expecting the future D core to look like? Who do we all think is trending to make it and who won’t make it? I think seider, edvinsson ASP and Johansson are locks (they seem to absolutely love ALJO). I can’t lie, I’d love to acquire some guys like jackeye (I always forget how to actually spell it sorry) for our bottom pair. Tuomisto, buium, other Johansson, wallinder, how are they coming along in all our opinions? I’m really upset about losing Gibson honestly, I thought he had a great D+1.

I'm really not optimistic right now. I like 5/6 of our top 6, but Compher still being the 2C is...not good. The defense is pretty bad past Seider (and probably Edvinsson, but we need to actually see him play more than a dozen games to really rule on where he's at). The goaltending is...yikes.

If Edvinsson, at this point in his development, can’t play at a similar or better level than Walman/Määttä/Chiarot, I’d argue the rebuild has big problems and arguably the best thing is for the team to regress and get another top 10 pick (or two).

We’re simply getting to a point where some of these kids need to sink or swim.

I expect Wallinder to have a big season in GR but I am higher on him than most.

I think he could be a middle pairing guy down the road, and might jump someone like Johansson at some point because he has the type of frame to handle more minutes and tougher matchups.

I’m also curious to see Buium at the AHL level if he gets the opportunity, I think he gets kind of lost in the shuffle, but I’ve always liked him as a prospect.

Love both of these guys I think both can be middle pairing guys. If these two hit we could really have basically a full home grown d-core in a few years
