to build a long term contender it takes a monster core ! and the only way to build this core , seider-raymond-edvinsson-kasper are the young start of it (very strong start) , IS THRU THE DRAFT ! AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET EARLY DRAFT PIX , IN A LEAGUE WHERE THE TALENT RUNS OUT EACH DRAFT BY THE EARLY TEENS , IS TO HAVE A BAD RECORD !!!! we wouldnt have gotten kasper if yzerman signed better ufa a few years ago to create a iffy non contender getting into playoffs ! yzerman cant come out and say it but he has not tried to ice the best roster possible since he got here because it would have hurt his draft position while maybe getting a flawed team to win a round . A FLAWED TEAM WINNING A ROUND DOES N.O.T.H.I.N.G. !!!! hes methodically peice by peice building a long term cup runner ! larkins a full tilt all in person with his heart on his sleeve so came out with criticism because hes young and unwise , no big deal . he takes his commitment to the fans very seriously , and hes out on the streets hearing the same cry baby fans that are in this forum and it got to him . but the RED WAVE is building , and all the cry baby rats will drown in it when once again #19 is drinking from lord stanleys cup :nod:

So let me get this straight. Yzerman had an unlimited leash because he knows more than us crybaby ungrateful fans and we should just stfu and be patient. Godzerman will tell us when he’s going to win, when he wants to win. The world operates on his timetable. And on this timetable other teams aren’t also trying to improve, so his plan is the only one that will work.

no youve determined the time table that an nhl rebuild works on , knowing better than yzerman whose been in the nhl 40 years and built as close as it gets to a dynasty during cap era in tbay . and you should not have respect for that accomplishment and his great calls on the draft floor . and that yzermans been buddys with bowman for 30 years , not to mention other nhl legends whom hes learned from . fan joe smo knows better

Captain hindsight says he'd of been first if Yzerman fired the coach earlier holding back his playing time.

Larkin should have fired him. It's his fault.

All of our cup teams had guys on the 3rd and 4th lines who could have played further up the lineup. If we have the talent to push Soderblom to the 4th line, that's a good thing. Would I necessarily have the same lines as the poster being quoted? No, but if we sign Ehlers, re-sign Kane, promote Danielson...those top9 slots get filled pretty quickly.

When we won our cups we had the grind line , they didn’t move up to the top 2 lines. Elmer isn’t going to be a kocur. Have you seen our lineup this year? Does it look like we have the talent to push Soderblom on the 4th line?

If he’s a 4th liner here He’s not gonna be a redwing for long. Might as well deal him. As for his roster we don’t need to keep both compher and copp here AND add beauvillier , one should stay on the roster and preferably on the 4th line. Kasper,johansson broke out this year, kids playing on this team is the only way we’re getting better

Soderblom on the 4th is pointless. Send him off with a 1st+ and go get a top pairing Dman at that point

Hope we have a diff team ... you think hes willing or capable of moving Gustafson holl tarasenko , possibly a goalie, one of compher/copp ,probably berggren and god knows who else im missing

I'd love if he can get rid of 5-7 bodies for kids and new guys

If he doesnt mcKenna becomes part of the yzerplan cause theres no way we're going anywhere with this roster

Might as well stick Watson on the 4th line full time ,pick up laine's last season and let him figure skate around, bring back petry and keep holl,delay danielson and some kids

Either make significant changes to improve or suck one more season before lombardi can come full time,asp,nygaard etc...
 
We really need to try anything to get Marner. He kills penalties very good defensively and can get 100 points. Right shot. Literally everything we need in a top 6 and he is only 28. I doubt he would chose Detroit but if he does i think we get another cup...

I don't think any coach would have started Kasper on the top line to start the season. Nobody expected Tank and Compher to suck so bad this season.

Once it became obvious that Ras, Tank, Joey, Burger and Compher were all gonna suck ass then he should have been moved up. Keep in mind that even Todd tried Joey first before Kasper. Plus I think he would've started slow even with better linemates, he started the season trying to split NHL defenders, and he's not THAT good.

I'm glad to see him make adjustments and look like a second line center though.
