Run the Jewels
Make Detroit Great Again

I only see Bultman's reply. What was the question?

No. What I said was very, very realistic.Since we’re throwing out things that will never happen, I trade Larkin to Edmonton for McDavid. Then I’ll go sign Marner for league max.
There you go. We all have fantasies!
No, it really, really wasn’t. I just gave you my idea.No. What I said was very, very realistic.
Still waiting for Your idea. Thanks.
It was. And still waiting for your idea. No, it really, really wasn’t. I just gave you my idea.
I’m not going to answer your La La Land fantasy with a reality, “Professor.”It was. And still waiting for your idea.
Since I’ve asked you 15 times and you refuse to answer…. I’m assuming you have none. Thanks.
If you want to fix the team without blowing it up…
#1: Need a LHD. Immediately. I’d love for Yzerman to pull a rabbit out of his arse trade. But I haven’t heard a single rumor. So I’m going to assume Gavrikov is the best realistic option. And you’re going to have to overpay to get him. And you should.
He’s not perfect. And he might be a 3rd pair D at the end of his contract. But that’s okay. It’s also a good draft to trade up into the mid-1st (ala Cossa/ASP) to draft a top-4 LHD of the future. I really like Aitcheson in this draft.
#1b: Need to find a solid AHL+ RHD to hold the fort until ASP’s ready. Holl and Gustafsson should start the yr in the GR or elsewhere.
Edvinsson—Seider
Gavrikov—Johansson (then ASP)
Chiarot—AHL+ (then Johansson)
That’d ^ be a solid-enough D to make the playoffs. Certainly much, much better than this past yr.
**********
#2: Need to sign Marner and a vet top-6 forward (or two vet top-6 forwards). Marner is of course the dream. We should be the top-bidder. If we get him, great. If we don’t, I’d prefer two vets on short deals (3’ish yrs), given the market. Love Kane, but he’s best as a 3rd line PP specialist at this point.
Tavares, Duchene, Granlund, Nelson, Marchand. Find 2. If it’s just 3yr deals…who cares what it costs.
#2b: Have to find a way to improve the PK. No one on this bottom line can kill penalties. Easiest guy to move for someone will be Ras (maybe package he and Berggren), given Copp/Compher’s contracts. Tank should start the yr in GR or elsewhere.
Tavares?—Larkin—Raymond
DeBrincat—Kasper—Duchene?
Mazur/Soder—Danielson—Kane
Mazur/Soder, Ras+Berg trade?, Copp
Compher
That’s a solid enough group ^

Great. You have no ideas. We all got that 16 replies ago. Thanks.I’m not going to answer your La La Land fantasy with a reality, “Professor.”
I don’t see a world where Tavares or Duchene leave Toronto or Dallas either. I see a very likely scenario where Toronto and Dallas don’t have cap space for Tavares and Duchene, and they’re forced to look at alternatives.I like the idea of adding Gavrikov but Im pretty skeptical about overpaying him. Same with Provorov. I feel like these guys are going to get 8M AAV +. Signing a 29 year old, 30 point Dman to an $8M+ x 6 or 7 year contract seems like a disaster waiting to happen.
I don't see a world were Duchene/Tavares leave their respective teams. They seem happy competing for cups where they are at. Helping out a rebuild doesn't seem like what they would want at this point in their career.
I love the idea of Marner and I think Yzerman will go hard after him. I doubt it happens though.
FWIW, on paper, I like your lineup.
Let me add forwards to this projection…..(if we don’t blow it up - trade Larkin/DeBrincat)…..bc I’m aI like the idea of adding Gavrikov but Im pretty skeptical about overpaying him. I’ll be pessimistic and predict Marchand on a 3yr deal is the best we can get this summer.

I was starting to think his "end of season" press conference might turn into a midsummer press conference.
I was waiting for someone to point this out.Pretty much yes, because Yzerman is currently at U18 World Championships at Texas.
I was waiting for someone to point this out.
It begs the question that if we take a Euro playing in this tournament, is he still a "Hakan" pick if Yzerman and all of the NA scouts watch him? Similarly does a NA pick become a Hakan pick if Hakan is watching him at this tournament?
I don’t think it’s SC good…. Unless Cossa or Augustine is like hall of fame goodI don't know, that roster kinda looks fire?
Why would you think this is the first time Hakan has seen these North American players and that Draper and Yzerman haven't seen European players before this? Most of the Americans play for the NDTP. The notion of pick credit is quite simply the dumbest, most Pejorative Slured crap this board has to offer.Quite sure Håkan has watched europeans more before. And now they could be just having the braintrust together, all giving their own feelings and views.
But for Håkan seeing North Americans first time at this tournament... maybe they¨ll listen, and add this info given for NA scouts data, but it's still small sample size, so anything Håkan says about NA picks, should not be the "god's" word.
Who does more of the basic job, sees the players most at multiple times, that where the biggest "pick credit" goes for.
Håkan's worked for the organization for 30 years and during his time as the head of European scouting (as the term implies, he scouts players from Europe...hope this helps) the vast majority of our best players we've drafted have come from Europe. Why would you think this is the first time Hakan has seen these North American players and that Draper and Yzerman haven't seen European players before this? Most of the Americans play for the NDTP. The notion of pick credit is quite simply the dumbest, most Pejorative Slured crap this board has to offer.

I think Henkka was talking live vs. probably tape. I do think there is a difference because if you are watching a broadcast they are following the puck and seeing someone in person allows you to watch their other tendencies better. Why would you think this is the first time Hakan has seen these North American players and that Draper and Yzerman haven't seen European players before this? Most of the Americans play for the NDTP. The notion of pick credit is quite simply the dumbest, most Pejorative Slured crap this board has to offer.
Another good comparison is the Canes, who've had some really good defensemen play over the years and it helped Ned look really good during his time with that organization. They also don't have elite scoring talent. They also went through a 9 year playoff drought but have been in the playoffs for 7 straight years and been to the Eastern Conference Finals twice.I think a lot of fans have PTSD from our current D of the past 5 years and have forgotten how much a good D can transform a team both offensively and defensively. You give the forward group from last year a good D that can actually transition the puck and I think our scoring issues are a lot less of a concern. We scored like 10 goals all year in transition. We were lucky if we got 2 odd man rushes a game and they were rarely our top line players.
