How do we feel about Vancouver these days?

I've always been up front about my bias against the Canucks. So there's your warning.

They are becoming the joke of the NHL.

The moment there were rumors that both Peterson and Miller wanted out, the owner should have held a press conference to apologize to the fan base, and to announce that the head of hockey operations, the GM and the head coach had all been fired.

We're way past that now.

Demko wants out.

As is tradition, Boeser is in trade rumors again.

And when I woke up this morning to check the hockey news, I see people in the trade forum speculating that Hughes will want to be traded if the rest of the core leaves the team.

Last year this team was pretty damn good and they were really hard to play against. They were really annoying. Now they're a joke.

A ton of people need to get fired like yesterday.
I hope you feel better but most of this post is purely overhyped speculation on your part as an admitted non-fan.

You obviously don't know nor do you understand the owner if you think he is going to come out of his hole and apologies for a scuffle between 2 stars.

Using the hockey news rumour mill to bolster your argument doesn't help. People are speculating? Wow....shake my head.

Your reply comes across as quite rude, as if you want me to block you or something.

What do I have to feel better about? I constantly complain about Edmonton's not being able to play against the Nucks or Flames often enough I'm the playoffs over the past 30 years.

Next time check your facts before making blind assumptions.

And please, don't reply to this. I have no interest in continuing this conversation with you.

My reply is simply a courtesy.

Canuck fans have wanted him gone for a LONG time. It's kinda hard to get rid of a owner.
I used to feel the same about our owner.

I don't live in Vancouver but the stories I hear make him seem like a extremely huge piece of shit. And he is just a bad owner in general .

I live in Victoria. Lived in Vancouver for a decade a while back.

I've never been a fan of how the organization was run ever since the original owner was forced to sell the team due to financial issues.

Many of their GMs have drafted well, but past that, there isn't much the Canucks have done that I admire.

Oilers owner seems like a decent person, but he has never had any idea what he's doing when appointing people to run the team.

See, what went wrong was when they rebuilt they were trying to contend. If I'm being honest they should've been starting a full rebuild around 2017. Like I'm talking basement. I also think they didn't need to trade for JT Miller as they were progressing better before him. I think he should've been playing on a team full of veterans rather than a rebuilding team.

Can't say where they went wrong, but if I'm going deeper I think they shouldn't have traded for Luongo or a starting goalie and let Schneider take over as early as 2009-10 because that's what I believe caused the Canucks downfall on choosing between them. I think it wouldn't have made a difference on their contention but I believe they'd have more confidence and be one of the best teams in the NHL up until 2020-21. And afterward I see them being a basement team in time to draft hometown kids Bedard and Celebrini.

After 8 years with McDavid, are the Oilers still celebrating 24 hours of leading the pacific division ? The Sedin era Canucks won 5 of them. The team before that won one and the team after the Sedins won one last year.

The joke of the NHL is the management group that has Stanley cup aspirations with AHL goaltending. But you should try and with a divisional first and work your way up from there.

GM's have been pretty bad here. Outside of a few drafts there hasn't been a lot to write home about. Couple nice trades but we manage to f*** everything up.

I can't believe I let myself get hope for this team again after the Benning years pushed me to pure apathy. I am just so sad right now :(

Grasping at straws here, but cant you guys on HF and Reddit coordinate putting pressure on the local media to flame the **** out of the organization for putting the players and fans through all this bull****?

Everything is downstream from ownership. Golden rule of sports.

Every once in a while one of the morons gets lucky but more often than not, you're waiting for a funeral/sale.

And Nuck fans scoff when Stanley Cups are mentioned.

Pathetic. Hope you enjoyed the parade for those.

Why doesn't Edm fans put pressure on management for NHL goaltending ? That would never pass muster here in Vancouver.

And that's nothing against Skinner. Throwing precious Mcdavid years on his shoulders is madness

How do you know they dont put pressure on management? Do you listen to Edmonton sports shows at all? Do you read other boards besides this site? Of course theres pressure, but one day you'll figure out that #1 elite goalies dont grow on trees and they're not exactly easy to trade for or even develop.

Starting to look like they may be a "blow it up" candidate. They're starting in the middle in terms of a farm system and have some players that could return packages so I don't think it's one that would take overly long if things go right.

Weird, I see a lot of sub-NHL goaltending in Vancouver lately.

Maybe the fans would be better served "putting pressure" on management to acquire players that aren't a bunch of little bitches that are inclined to cat fight going forward.

I mean, their fall in PDO (which people need to stop worshipping as a statistic, it doesnt love you back I promise), is almost entirely going from Vezina caliber goaltending to dead last 5 on 5 in the league. But Canucks fans know that that actually makes sense.

Demko is coming off a serious injury that isnt fixable and has yet to settle in. He isnt a bad goalie all of a sudden but his stance has had to change because of the injury and he hasnt perfected it yet (hence lots of goals going under his pads etc).

Skinner doesnt have a similar explainer for being hot and cold. The difference between elite goalies and everyone else is they are consistent at a level of play. Skinner at his best is as good as anyone but he isnt at that level all the time and thats the issue. Demko has always been consistently great when healthy, but has issues being healthy. So the path is clear, let him keep improving, work with him and get him settled in.

The Canucks have been lucky to have had great to elite goaltending for almost 20 years now. Luongo to Miller to Markstrom to Demko. If the Oilers had any of those 4 guys on their current team they'd have lifted a cup already, but part of that is they dont have a guy like Ian Clark (which the Canucks effectively no longer have either).

Not nearly as good as it was before Rutherford decided to let everyone in the organization blab about it and let the media drown them in hit pieces. He should be fired for not keeping a lid on it and allowing it to fester to such an extent. There's no way they will ever get full value for Miller or Petersson with Rutherford blabbing his mouth like he is. GM's, especially in West/Pacific, will let him ride the sinking ship until they meet their terms because it means they won't be nearly as competitive and will make for an easy 2 points on most nights.

The time to have done something is long over. Now it's just a matter of not effecting Ticket Sales/STH's and devaluing the franchise to the point where the owner has to question whether to sell or not.

Because teams are not built perfect. The fans do.

Don't trigger us about Dustin Schwartz lol. I do not think as highly of Skinner as you do (top end), but most of what you said is right.
