How do we feel about Vancouver these days?

If Hronek isn't a top pair defensman than neither is Devon Toews
Sure. Fine by me. I don't watch Devon Toews.
Debrusk leads the team in goals.
So do u have a point? Someone else would be getting his opportunities and looks and we'd still have Zadorov actually doing something on defense.

Debrusk also has 2 points in his last 13 games. He can really drive offense on his own, can't he?

I feel like they’re by far the most overrated, overhyped, and relentlessly stroked by their own fan base NHL franchise on this website that isn’t named the Toronto Maple Leafs. That’s how I feel. And every time I remind myself about that 2012 presidents trophy run to game 7 of the SCF only to come up short at home in front of their own fans I feel just a little bit better about everything.

Guy didn't even get the year right

I honestly didn't know there was still Chicago fans out there triggered by Vancouver

...and their room devolve into the "Lord of the Flies". Almost everything has gone wrong for them this season.
That's actually a brilliant analogy.

Pettersson = Piggy
JT Miller = Jack
Hughes = Ralph
They are a soap opera
Man... I can't think of another club that seems to have so bloody much off-ice drama. You'd think a franchise with (as Bob Stauffer memorably put it) "Zero Cups and two riots", located in a fairly desirable ocean-side location, and with a fair amount of high-end player talent would be able to just keep a happy lid on small things off-ice. Not so much.

I don't know if it's the local media or the succession of leaders in the locker-room or just bad luck with personalities (or, dare I say it, the fanbase), but they seem to thrive on drama behind the scenes.

I occasionally cheered for the Canucks when I was a kid in the 80s/90s, and enjoyed their underdog status once in a while. They were a likeable group back then (surprise run to the Finals in '94). I lived in Vancouver on and off from 2001 to 2011, and I quite enjoyed the c.2002 to 2006 club (the Naslund, Bertuzzi, Jovanovski team). But I was not on board with the c.2010-2012 club at all. I dunno, something about them turned me off, and their embarrrassing choke in the '11 Finals seemed appropriate, as did the ensuing riot (which I walked through on my way home from work that day). If I'm being honest, I was bit put off by the fanbase's over-the-top reaction to (barely) beating Chicago in the first round. I was, like... "Okay, you finished 1st overall and have Cup aspirations... and we're celebrating like it's 1999 because you won the first round, barely avoiding (by one shot) the biggest choke of all time?" I just felt fan-perception vs. reality was off.

Anyway, I kind of like the current club, despite its apparent lack of unity, and if I were management, I would... do almost nothing. Talented NHL players are the rarest breed in the world these days and they are excessively difficult to get fair-trade value for. I honestly think if they rush into a Pettersson or Miller trade, they're going to get burned no matter what. Just hold onto everyone for now, suffer this season if necessary, and things will be rosy and different next year. Anyway, don't make any rash moves, no matter how many losses pile up. One disastrous trade can set a franchise back, like, 10 years.

Great start last year. Something happened after the All-Star break.

Lots of posters got called out when they talked about PDO, etc.

Still a lot of time to go. Do they make the playoffs?
Petey got hurt and it went down hill from there tbh the offence depends on him personally I think they should shut him down he is noticeably slower and his shot looks slower and less accurate.

They ran out of glitter dust.

Will be tough to make the dance with that D-core. I hope they do make the playoffs though. Will be an easy series for good ole my town.

We’re just rope-a-dopping the entire league right now.

We’ll get that #3D and probably more then go on a heater just at the perfect time and win the Stanley Cup :stanley:

You mean the team that had their star winger Daniel Sedin concussed before the playoffs by Keith? He came back at maybe 50% and with him in the lineup we won 1 and lost 1. With a healthy Daniel from the start that series goes to game 7 where everything can happen even with Quick standing on his head. LA just demolished everyone after that.

We won 2 PT and the run was in 2011. In 2012 it was the Kings series that i've talked about.

As a fan it's definitely been a circus. You go into the season with a defense core consisting of Hughes, Hronek, Myers, Soucy, Desharnais, Forbort and Juulsen, you just knew there would be trouble ahead. The whole roster with their stars seem to have fallen to injury. No one seems to be able to get healthy. Your top 2 forwards can't seem to get along, and apparently won't get along. The best 2 forwards are apparently the biggest divas on the team. While Demko has developed a new stance in net to prevent himself from reaggravating a rare injury, resulting piss poor play. The team contunes to watch Hughes get mugged with no pushback. The general manager Allvin calls out Pettersson, while the whole league seems to know everything about the teams drama. Including possible trades.

What do I think of my Canucks?

They're a mess.

Quinn Hughes is the only player worth watching this season.
