How did your first round series predictions do?

We'll just have to trust you since the polls weren't public, so be honest.

I'll go through mine to start things off.

Toronto vs. Ottawa - I voted for Toronto in 5. Guess I had the right series winner, but not the right series length.
Carolina vs. New Jersey - I voted Carolina in 5. Nailed it!
Tampa Bay vs. Florida - homer voted Tampa Bay in 7. Pretty off base on this one.
Washington vs. Montreal - voted Washington in 5. Also nailed this one.
Los Angeles vs. Edmonton - voted LA in 6. Was looking pretty good at first, but nope. I guess I got the series length right and that counts for something?
Vegas vs. Minnesota - voted Vegas in 5. They took an extra game to do it but they won.
Dallas vs. Colorado - had Colorado in 5 on this one. Nope, not even close.
Winnipeg vs. St. Louis - voted Winnipeg in 5. While the Jets ultimately did get the job done, it wasn't in a way I thought would happen.

In all, 5 for 8 isn't so bad. Even had the winner and series length right on two of them! Maybe I'd have voted for Florida if I hadn't blindly homer voted the Bolts to make it 6 for 8, but I did what I did. We'll never know if I had been more objective about it, so I won't make pretend here.

Hey ESPN, want to hire me as a hockey analyst? :sarcasm:

I'm really bad at making predictions, where I tend to go with the heart more than the brain. First I think intelligently about what is likely to happen - then I consider what I'd want to actually happen - than I determine it's possible - and I usually end up making that the prediction. So I know some are a bit far fetched. But here goes:

Toronto in 5. Close enough - won in 6. This looked like a slam dunk sweep at one point, and ended up being an 'almost choke job', so, unsure where that leaves the Leafs. Probably just move on and forget, and try to win round 2.

Tampa in 6. By far biggest disappointment of round 1. This was one of those battle of behemoths, where you expected both teams to go all out and not lose easy, but Tampa did anything but that. Losing in ~7 might have been ok, but in 5 where it wasn't even close? Not really

Habs in 4. Okay - see my first paragraph for an explanation on this one :) Super fun series. Would have liked to see that game 6 in Montreal, the crowd would have been crazy

Carolina in 6. Close enough - I figured without Jack Hughes Devils didn't stand a chance.

Winnipeg in 6. I didn't buy Jets as a top team, but I thought they'd win round 1 easily enough. They did win, in 7, but it was still a pretty crazy outcome with the comeback.

Colorado in 6. I knew this one would be a very hard battle that could go 50/50, and I picked the wrong team

Vegas in 5. Good on Wild for pushing it to 6, but Vegas is so strong

Edmonton in 5. It took 6 games instead of 5.

So I got 5 out of 8 teams right, but not a single one did I also guess the right # of games.

Bad.

Minny and Vegas I think I said Vegas in 5 or 6 so not bad there.
Edmonton and LA I can't remember how many games but I think I said Kings in 7.
Blues and Jets, I was right about the Jets but I think I said 6 games.
Dallas and Colorado I think I had Avs in 6.
New Jersey Carolina was my curveball series. Thought the Devils might eek it out in 7. Nope. But I was ready to be wrong about that.
Caps and Habs I thought would be a Caps sweep. Nope.
Lightning and Panthers, for whatever reason I thought Vasilveski would go god mode and it'd be Bolts in 6 or 7. Nope.
Leafs and Sens I think I was right on the money. Leafs in 6. Figured the Sens were too inexperienced.

Got the winners right, atleast.

Toronto, Washington, Edmonton, Vegas and Carolina series ended as i expected, did not speculate about number of games it would take, but the winner of those was clear imo.

Florida - Tampa, would have picked Florida, if asked beforehand, but in 7, and even then, would not hold breath over it.

Dallas - Colorado - thought it may go to 7 games, which it did, hoped for Avs win, was worried Dallas would win, given 7th game home advantage and DeBoer curse, which indeed happened. With bonus of Rantanen making it happen. f*** this life.

Winnipeg - Saint Louis, despite WPG being the favourite, i kinda expected STL might surprise, given their recent winning form. But did not happen. At very least it took 7 games, so it was close.
