How do Leaf fans feel about the 2019 Raptors title run? I watch the Raptors a lot but I'm not sure how frequently Leaf fans watched them. With how it feels like a big curse having not won a single playoff series in 17 years and an NHL title since '67, how did the Raptors title feel to you?

Did it make you a bit more relieved that a Toronto sports team won it all? Personally because I rarely watch hockey, I'm indifferent about the 3-1 lead from this year or all the other chokes from previous. I remember being extremely shook with the Lebronto years.

For me it re-affirmed the fact that you can’t win with soft, mentally weak players like DeMar DeRozan “leading” a team.

Once they dumped DeRozan and his loser approach for a big game winner like Kawhi - - instant championship.

It was a fun ride. I am a very passive NBA fan, used to watch a ton in the 80's and 90's. If the Raptors are doing well I'll jump on the band wagon. For reference, I didn't watch more than 5 minutes of a game all season... so that's my definition of passive.

I generally don't care who they sign, who they trade, etc. But if they are in the playoffs, I'll for sure watch and cheer them on. Much like the Jays, but as a bitter Expos fan I still claim I hate baseball :-P

I am a big basketball fan. Obviously it doesn't compare to my love for the Leafs (God help me. Lol) But that was a fantastic run. I loved every single second of it. I watched basically every game that year. I wanted to enjoy it because I knew Kawhi was only going to be here for 1 year.

What I loved about that series was you always had faith in Raptors putting up a fight. Raptors were almost anti leafs. They did opposite. They oozed with level of confidence that dont get with the leafs

Every night whether it was Siakm, Ebeka or Danny Green someone would come through other than Kawai. I will also never forget the heart shown by Vanvleet

Same with the Jays. You need a bad boy in your team like Bautista or Alomar. You don't win championship being a pretty boy

I will always cherish Kawais shot, Bautista flip and Donaldson dash for last 20 years

Before that it was obviously dougi and jays

I'm a Raptors fan so I was ecstatic about the Championship and still am. I don't care honestly if they win another in my entire life. Sure I want more, but truthfully, I'm good if they don't. So many teams of many sports have never won a championship during their entire existence - a fact that is not lost on me.

Just wanted to add; casuals of the NBA really have no idea how much of an uphill battle it is for the Raptors to gain any consistent success within the NBA environment. All the cards are stacked against them which is what made that Championship all the more special.

the Jays back to back world series >>>>>> raptors championship.

raptors was a complete one off.

bring in a super star. have that superstar win you a championship. lose that superstar.

rinse, repeat.

Jay's fell off hard after the chip for 20 years. Raptors were a contender in 2020 losing a 7 game series to the celtics in the 2nd round d then had a bad 2021 with them being in Tampa and the team getting infected by COVID while being 18-17 and 4th seed I believe

The raptors should be competitive for next 5 years while Jay's sucked ass from 93 onwards till 2015. If Masai pulls things correctly the Raptors can win another title.

Raptors also won the title after so many disappointments which made it so much sweeter while the Jay's sucked mostly before the back to back

Raptors 2019 championship was needed for the city who didn't have anything good happen in terms of sports for over 15 years

Was vindication as a Raps fan since 95 (all Toronto sports really). MLSE cannot let Masai go.

I found out they won when the CBC App notified me, so I can say very indifferent. I knew they were in the finals but I didn’t tune in.

Oddly enough I went to a Warriors Raptors game that season where they pulled some last min heroics and Babs was in attendance(that was my highlight lol). Got the tickets from work and left early to beat the lineup in the lobby

Loved it; but, I've been following the team from day 1. I took our entire studio to the parade.

I’ve been a Raptors fan since they started so it’s been with me since I was fairly young. I’m not a hardcore fan but I follow them especially in playoffs. It was amazing when they won and it still feels great. I couldn’t imagine the if the Leafs actually pulled it off. I’ll be drunk for a week.

It was fun to watch but I was more excited when the Leafs won the lottery than I was for the Raptors winning.

I thought it was great and I’ve always been disappointed in those who cheer for only one of the Leafs or Raptors and resent the attention or success that the other one has.

The only real unfortunate thing is that it was so fleeting; I wish Kawhi had given us one more year to try and defend the title properly, but what can you say? He was really the ultimate hired gun.

Yup, nailed it. Bball has been my #2 sport since I was a kid and Raptors winning it all was awesome. What a team that was!

Jays titles were awesome but the Raptors title was IMHO even more awesome for reasons stated above. And that team was a lot more than just one player, your take is just weird.

Kyle Lowry is my second favourite Toronto sports star of the last 50 years, wish we had someone like him on the Leafs.
