Get them before 4 nations and they have 3 weeks to find a place, get settled, get to know the arena and some staff and players still around etc before they ever officially join the team.

Beat Boston first round who went scorched earth all in.

As a fan I don't want to sell valuable future assets for a 1 in 16 lottery ticket and suffer for years after.
I was a big Raps fan, they went all in and won. Now I could care less if they cancelled their season or not.

I enjoy watching the Leafs, excited every playoff. I wouldn't want them to be chasing a lottery pick 3 years from now and irrelevant.

I'm not suggesting trading our top prospects for rentals, I Cowan, or Minten or I guess Danford, although I'm not as high on Danford, but if they go I want guys with term.

But I don't think you can be afraid of moving them either especially given where they are in the standings.

You said yourself you watched the Raptors go all in. Granted they HORRENDOUS now, but they achieved the goal, they won the championship that can never be taken away..

I want a Leaf championship and I don't think that's happening with Max Domi at 3C.

and if they are going to take Patches out of the lineup they need a need a winger too.

This is the year to go for it. Tavares isn't getting younger, there's the Marner uncertainty, and we've built our moves around the next few years. We're unfortunately not looking as good as I would have hoped in a go for it year, but our division and conference is the weakest it's ever been too, and our goaltending looks strong so far, so it's worth doing what we can, within reason.

I don't care about futures in the next 4-6 years, this is as good as it's going to get.

At the bare minimum get a 3c, but a dream target for me is Josi. I'd give up 4 1sts for him or 2 1sts and Cowan and Minten.

Once Matthews/Marner/Nylander are out of their prime, we're probably going to have to rebuild anyways or retool around 1 or two of them.

This is it and honestly probably as good as it's going to get in terms of talent, this group has it in spades, it's about giving them the best chance to win.

There is nothing to save for either, all the 1sts we have are 2-4 years away from contributing and at that point it's likely the core won't be as good, so even if our 25-32 picks pan out, they're really not slated to be game breakers of the same calibre (AT BEST). At that point the core will be in their mid 30s and generally speaking mid 30s players aren't making runs.

The core have never shown that they can do it in the playoffs.
We have 2 goaltenders that have never played over 30 games in a season . Also both having a history of injuries.
Mathews with a wonky back, could be gone for 10 games at anytime.
McCabe 2 consecutive concussions

And we haven't played great in the last 5 games
Woll except for last night night has been great, if not for him won half of those games .

I would trade for a 3 C

To me this was always going to be a transition year yr
1. New coach
2. We are finally fixing the Defense
3. We are finally building center depth
4. We finally have some prospects in the system
