Timmins sucks and needs to go.

Treliving drafted Cowan not Dubas, I know you are part of Kyle Dubas but you don't need to lie.

Robertson shows up once or twice every 4-6 weeks he's not good depth.
Holmberg doing nothing for the entire season and then getting hot/lucky for a week doesn't make him good depth either.

Bobby McMann is good depth he gets credit for that.

I forgot, Dubas only got the pick and all the scouts and it appeared Treliving wasn't aware of who Cowan was, my bad, 100% Treliving, you are right.

Robertson has proven to be better depth than a lot of recent signings... we need more depth that shows up twice every 4-6 weeks.

No starting goalie, a mediocre defence, no cap room. Ironically, Dumbass is doing the exact same thing right now in Pittsburgh.

Woll has played more games than Stolarz, at least a 1b was left...

Our best D is from Dubas, OEL is a 5/6, Rielly still needs a partner, Tanev is good in year 1 of 6 at 34... looks like D is not so easy to fix.

Treliving had more cap space than Dubas ever had.

Pittsburgh was going to be a loser no matter what, but I don't care what he is doing there honestly.

Finally voted on this - wanted to see where they were this week in the overall picture before committing.

So basically, my belief is that at most we should be sacrificing is a 2nd (or less) for blueline depth, which I actually do think will happen.

In the thread on the Rumors board where Kypreos is predicting both Minten/Cowan will be gone I outlined all the reasons why I think it doesn't make sense to go big this year. So I'll save repeating it all here except that it seems Treliving agrees with that sentiment :

Again, Tre’s comments don’t really mean anything. Even if they are planning to make a splash at the deadline there’s no upside in telling the media that. If you don’t manage to get it done, you’ve set expectations high and not delivered. However if you lower expectations then a big splash is a good surprise, and anything less than that is just what you said that you’d likely do.

They might be honest comments, but they also may not be.

We'd all love to see a big splash as fans. If it were an unlimited cap and budget and UFA season, sure.

I'd rather him do nothing at all and clear the deck for next season in which Leafs can have many more options.

I'm sure Berube isn't happy with that as coaches always want the most stacked team possible, but I don't see anything moving this team to Cup favourite and anything moving the needle a little bit is far too excessive a price.

The team has plenty of NHL experience depth. The same Core stars are here. Stop trying to dress up a team that it simply isn't. Make the necessary decisions in the offseason. If they make the Cup Finals, pay them their money. If not, get those who can do so.

Naa...keep assets, all in two years from now when Mcjesus is here. By then Minten and Cowen will be ready or assets we can use for our cup run.

Dubas burned all our assets, now we need to be strategic.

Clownshow Treliving letting all the good players go strengthen Florida and TBay. If this twit doesn't do something, its another first round and out.

Finally the year we have good goalies. And a coach that can seemingly get more out of the core 4.
We are stingy on assets.

Dubas will go down as the worst GM in Leafs/NHL history and Shanahan can have eggs thrown at him the rest of his life. We have jack to offer and this year noone is selling what we need in spades.

Maybe next year is better.

1.Matthews is bipolar with injuries. and Domi forgot how to play hockey.
2.Marner isn't guaranteed to remain a Leaf.
3.Rielly needs to go on a diet and hit the weightroom that weak fat F*ck for 7.5M

Division wise

4. Florida added Seth... He killed us in the CBJ series.
5. Tampa is now Team Canada and Team USA with Cooper in charge. And...Vasey in net.

And finally...

6. Savard can't get these guys to score on a PP AGAINST THE SHARKS. 44M in forwards AND a PP that needs VIAGRA and CIALIS YESTER-F*CKING-DAY

We are first round fodder short of Stolarz/Woll Carey Price miracle.

I think Jones will be useful but he does come with a 7 or 7.5mil pricetag after retention.

Can’t see how Leafs can even fit him in even if they are willing to give up assets.

Bjorkstrand is a good player but 1/4 or more of his points are from the PP. how is he going get into our PP? Like who is he going to bump out. Not to mention the Ozone starts he was getting that he might not get with the Leafs unless he plays on the top 6.

I understand we need secondary and depth scoring in the playoffs but players that gets goals and points on the PP might be deceiving as they won’t have those PP mins on the Leafs.

Agreed. Outside of Rantanen, I don't see too many must have players out of TOR'S grasp yet.

I'm not saying those players won't be decent, but Leaf fans don't need to give up hope.

Tampa and Florida have gone all in, we need to make a move by the TDL.

We have a legitimate shot to do some damage in the playoffs, would be such a wasted opportunity to not add to this roster.

Really?

Even without their trades, I would still favor Panthers winning against us in a Best of Seven series and about 55/45 favouring Leafs beating TB in a playoffs series.
I don’t think we have a great shot or clear path to the ECF

Florida lost some depth, and Tkachuk is out. We can definitely beat them. We have goaltending, we have scoring, we have defence, we have a Mitch Marner who dominated at the 4N Cup. Guys were playing at 10000%, it was Cup Final level intensity and for the first time in his career he showed up big time and didn't shy away from contact in a big game.

I believe we can win the East this year. We have never had this good goaltending in the Matthews era and guys are playing legitimate playoff style hockey.

Maybe it is PTSD from playoffs but if guys like Coyle made AM into his little pet, I don’t see how AM and JT can do any damages against Barkov and Bennett.
MM always play great until pressure gets to him and we don’t have a McD or Point(two alphas) to play with him.
Tkachuk may come back in the first round and even if he doesn’t come back at all, Barkov, Reinhart, Carter, Bennett are tough to play against. And who knows if Zito would swing to get Rantanen.

Who are they going to bring in to make Matthews and Marner score 5 goals in a series? Make prudent deals only, no big splashes, they tried that each year and it didnt work so. This can be a big offseason.

Moves are going to undoubtedly be made, but hopefully Shanahan and Treliving don't go all in this TDL, unless it's to trade one or two of the "Big Four". I just can't seem them making a deep run with Matthews, Marner, Tavares, and Nylander at the helm again, so why waste the assets ?

With looking on who is available for trade…none of those players are worth trading first round picks Minton or Cowan.

Laughton is a 4th line scrub. I would much rather bring up Minton to play 3C in the playoffs. No f***ing way I am trading young blue chips and first round picks for that guy.

Often the best move you make, is in fact the move you don’t make. Treliving needs to stand pat. I believe this team is going to be very good in the playoffs. Just as they are.

What even is this?
I'm reminded of a quote from Billy Madison.
You all know which one.

If they get Schenn they will have time to experiment. I’m just not sure Rielly’s offensive contributions out weigh his defensive liabilities at this point in in his career.
Why experiment when we already know the Rielly Schenn pairing works?

Yeah, because every other trade deadline where they made trades propelled them deep into the playoffs
different management, different coach, different players and different teams. Hows that mister sarcastic?

yup and Tre is happy the leafs got in the playoffs. Don't know how he or Shanny keep their jobs.

What "good players" ?
All the players that were traded today. Those players.

Clownshow Treliving letting all the good players go strengthen Florida and TBay. If this twit doesn't do something, its another first round and out.

All the good players? Yani Gourde has some of the worst numbers of any NHLer this season and he’s small and is not 100% healthy.

The Leafs need to be careful right now with what they do.
It looks like this trade war with the despicable moron running the states could seriously affect these magical cap increases.
I would sure hate to be in the same position that Dubas put us in during and since the Covid flatline
