How about those "Rick Bowness less" Winnipeg Jets?

I know it's early but boy they sure look good. Without Rick behind the bench this year, I was predicting this team to take a big step back. But that clearly has not been the case.

1) Hellebuyck has been a beast posting a .948SV% and a 1.40GAA.
2) They have the best goal differential in the league.
3) League leading with 6 wins.
4) Fewest goals allowed in the league (10GA in 6 games).
5) 4th in goals for with 27.

They could have the most underrated top line in the league with Villardi - Schiefele - Connor. Scott Arniel has obviously implemented a sound defensive system with the team from day one.

Could they be the cinderella team this year? Anyone else surprised?

This will be a breakout year for Perfetti.

Scott Arniel did excellent relieving him in his absence last season.

Arniel is a good coach, he was behind the bench for the Moose going to the finals. As for Columbus... that's another story.

Yeah I'm all for seeing Winnipeg succeed but regular season success is pretty meaningless at this point, now it's all about not being easily brushed aside in the first round of the playoffs.

I will admit I initially thought this was going to be a hire that would backfire, but he’s done a good job 6 games in. I thought he would do as poorly as he did in Columbus years ago.

Looking at last season for similar starts.

Vegas started 7-0, barely made the playoffs.
Boston started 6-0, were the 4th best in the East.

OP is not a Jets fan. There is a reason there hasn’t been a rush of Jets fans on the main board or posting on this thread.

From my good friend @Gm0ney over on our board where this topic belongs:

We are obviously riding an unsustainably hot PDO streak to start the season. The central will be a meat grinder again so you take the winz when and where you can get them.

It's a nice start, and maybe I missed someone mentioning it before in this thread, but so far, they have played 1 playoff team this year, and it was imploding Edmonton. They played 4/6 games at home. In 2 of those games, the opponents (Wild and San Jose) were playing on the second night of a back-to-back.

So it's as favorable a schedule as you will get in this league.
