I've been a lurker for years and this is officially the dumbest shit I've ever read on here
You’ve seen many UFAs getting traded for two youngish roster players? A good but non elite player like horvat?
That's nice, kiddo.

Aren't you the guy that stated Girard was going to break out and rival Makar this year?
nope.

Horvat has once got 60+p. That was 61p 4yrs back. His best +/- is 3. 3!!!. And thats the only year he was a +

Honestly, I think we're seeing what he's capable of this year without the burden of trying to play a shutdown role which he's obviously not great at. He's a pure goal scorer that goes to the dirty areas.

?? You’re defence is old, kylington will break out offensively if given ice time and is young. Same with Dube.
So you legitimately think that is a decent offer? My word.

Myers, OEL and Schenn are older than 30, which seems to be the magic cut off for players considered "young". Burroughs, Hughes, Bear, Stillman, Rathbone, Dermott and even Poolman are under 30, most much closer to 25. Kylington is 2 years younger than Horvat, and Dube is 3. Age isn't every thing, and we're not getting much younger on either count.

Both are absolutely redundant in terms of skill set and position. They aren't getting that ice time. That list above has 6 players that play the left side, with two that would undoubtedly get the prime offensive time you're saying Kylington needs to "break out", and one more we're already struggling to get enough ice time for.

Dube would be fighting it out with 10 other wingers, not counting Miller who would presumably be playing center with Horvat gone, for a spot on the team. He is not getting ahead of 7 of them to get into a top six role to get that ice time either.

Both of them combined doesn't get you a 30 goal scoring center currently second to only McDavid in scoring. It's an insulting offer, frankly.

The guy is 27. This is his 9th season and you call him young? "Young players trajectory usually go up" my ass. Horvat is a seasoned vet, who is having a start for the ages. He is a serviceable 2C, who will bring you 60p/season if healthy. Nothing points otherwise.
Okay, so you peg him at 60 points this year? gotcha! i'm going to save this, and when he ends the year near PPG and 40 goals, i'm going to reach out to you and have a laugh.
Actually, i'll check in with you at the 30 and 60 game mark for a mid-year chuckle. I want this to serve you as a reminder of what type of posts you create. your comments are a reflection of you. This self-realization is going to hurt...and it will all happen at the expense of your shame and the benefit of others (and my own) laughter

Any trade for Horvat, a 27 year old centre whos 2nd in the league in goals, plays the right way, seems to be a coaches dream and a natural born leader (I may be wrong on my assessment of Horvat here), would have to hurt to acquire.

Dube and Kylington does not hurt. Nor does Horvat fit the flames needs (top 6 RHS-RW shoot first winger).

Would be a 2023 first and Zary type package to get it done.

- Flames do love the first round of the 2013 draft (Horvat would be the 7th of 30 players from that round to play for CGY)

Yeah. I don't really see the appeal of spending the sort of premium on a Center like Horvat, when you've already got Lindholm and Kadri as quality Top-6 Centers, and Backlund is a solid 3rd guy. Especially when he'd be basically a rental by default, since they can't afford to keep him at the $8M+ he's going to be asking.

A RHS shoot first RW sounds an awful lot like Brock Boeser though. Which would also fit a lot better with the sort of "value" range proposed. He's not going to have that same acquisition cost. Still a pretty big cap hit, but there's at least some "certainty" to it at a number lower than Horvat. So you could swing some sort of cap offsets or something to make the money work better. You can at least play with it a bit more, knowing exactly what money is moving and needs to be massaged into Calgary cap situation.
