Horrible rumor from Hacksaw on 1090

Just throwing this out there, but Iginla DOES have experience playing left wing, especially on the power play. He's a capable LW.

I think this is the correct way of thinking. There are just to many negative factors with Iginla. Last time DL brought in a player like this it was a disaster on and off the ice.

Acquiring high priced players in their mid 30's is usually not a good thing.
 
The thing that worries me is the Kings Managment thinking that LA needs star power.

There are certain things we all know about DL and one of those is the value he places on both centers and defensemen. I think you are out to lunch of DL is more interested in bringing in a scoring winger (especially one on the downside of his career) before re-signing his best (healthy) stay at home defenseman or at the expense of his 3rd line center. Notice how in his interview following the Voynov signing he said his first call would be to Scuderi's agent. I know DL isn't one to tip his hand but his number one priority doesn't seem to be at the left wing even though we all know there is a weakness there. The Kings are just going to have to get by for another year and do something next summer.

I'll buy Dairy Queen for the whole board if DL either trades Stoll and/or doesn't bring back Scuderi to make room for the contract of a highly paid winger. It just isn't happening. We're looking at bringing back what is on the books currently and either Scuderi or a lesser replacement as a stop gap until Mitchell is healthy (if that even happens) and possibly Bud Holloway or another cheap winger. Maybe, and a very big maybe, DL brings in a player IF he believes Mitchell won't be ready to start the season. Even then he is going to have to have a strong contigency plan if he goes over the cap and Mitchell returns.

I'll go ahead reclaim my self proclaimed title of the Eklund of all things that won't happen. The Kings WON't sign Iginla or any other high paid player at the expense of Jarret Stoll or Rob Scuderi. This Kings have little to no wiggle room so these ideas of Lecavalier, Iginla etc are pure fantasy in my opinion.
 
There's really no way we can or will sign Iggy. If we can't sign Penner [not saying we will or should] how the hell could we afford Iggy without tearing apart our roster. He's on the downside of his career and we have much cheaper alternatives waiting to get their shot.
 
The thing is, Iginla isn't "star power", the core fans know the Kings have guys like Kopitar, Doughty, Quick, Carter etc. who are better than Iginla, and Iginla isn't exactly a household name to non-hockey fans, the guy spent most of his career on bad teams in Western Canada. The average LA sports fan who loves the Lakers isn't going to suddenly go to a few Kings games a year to see Jarome Iginla.

Kopitar, Brown, Richards, Carter, Quick, Doughty - all NHL stars. Perhaps the "uninformed" want a **** show like the Lakers, but we have a great team stacked with talent. I'd rather win than have the "sexy" stars.

I can't stand the Lakers, but I always did respect the way Jerry Buss ran that team. I assume he is doing 360's in his grave with everything that is going on with that team, the billboard thing is just amazing to me.

Never in my life did I think the Lakers would be seen as more of a Mickey Mouse org. than the Kings.
 
Why doesn't DL trade with Calgary? They have no idea what they are doing. Wake up DL.
 
Package Stoll and Martinez for a draft pick and sign Iginla. Put Vey in as third line center. He's already had 2 years in the AHL and is ready.

Feaster would pull it off big time. It's like he likes to lose trades.

Haha, as incompetent as Feaster is, he's not moving Baertschi, at least not for that type of return. The only Flames player that would interest the Kings would probably be Curtis Glencross but he's not interested in waiving his NTC.
