Canes have 4 OT wins and 13 OT losses this season. If we could win around 50% of our OT games we are 0-1 pts out of a playoff spot this season...
Also to add I don't think it's the players fault for these OT losses. I think it's Peters fault. He's the same coach that thought putting 2 defenders on an offensive zone faceoff during 3 on 3 would somehow win you the game? But that was a while back.
This team fails to aggressively play in 3 on 3. Teams are going to get scoring chances no matter what, so why don't you try and create your own. Stop worrying about giving up an odd man rush and worry about creating your own. The Canes always seem so worried in OT to lose the puck and they fail to create their own scoring opportunities. I gotta put that on coaching, the Canes could definitely utilize a different strategy in OT.
They are bad at 3 on 3 for the same reason they are bad at 5 on 5. They lack scoring ability and their goaltending is below average. That's only magnified, by the fact that there are less players on the ice.
